DA challenges ANC to public debate

Never going to happen, their president can't even answer questions in parliament.

ok, ok, people, remember Jesus hasn't come back hey, you might have to wait a little looooonger for this, okay.:)

Ah yes, the DA trying to use 1st world politics in a 3rd world arena.

Debates are meant to sway voters one way or the other based on policies and opinions. This fails in SA on 2 grounds:

1) The ANC doesn't give 2 damns about their policies vs the DA's or how the public perceives it. If all the scandals surrounding them isn't making them feel ashamed and embarrassed, losing a debate certainly won't.

2) They don't have to. They won't do anything that isn't strictly required of them by law...and even then it's a stretch. They stand to gain nothing from a debate, so why bother? So they say no...what then? The DA cries about something and then that's it.

The only way the DA is going to win the majority vote is by playing the colour game and by providing food parcels. Once they're in power, they can try and retain it through good governance.

The ANC will never allow themselves to be corrected, especially on a public platform. They have successfully managed to use race as an answer to every question that they cannot or do not want to answer. Their mentality is very childish to me.

Totally agree.

If we have to play to the lowest common denominator, i.e. the majority of the voting market, you go for the proverbial T-shirts and KFC giveaway. I'd guesstimate that 70% of the country could care less about governance, 8% cares and votes against bad governance, 2% is actively benefited by racist policies so votes the status quo, and the other 20% is minority vote, so again voting for good governance.

Its the 70% that vote that need to vote for something else. Thankfully the EFF has grabbed a good percentage of votes, and looks like they'll be a worthy adversary to the ANC (assuming they are going to be an opposition vs everyone against the whitey's).

40% ANC / 30% / DA 20% EFF and 10% misc other parties would be a success next elections - the ANC would have to work for a living, and not leech.

Dont forget the victim card .... a handy backup for when the race card is played but doesnt work.
