DA defends Sentech for raising signal concerns

I don't think Sentech has enough in R200-million. These kind of projects requires all the capital upfront - it is not cost effective to do it piecemeal.

Looks politicaly correct, 'sweetheart' / 'comrade' appointments from the struggle-days ... but no real skills or competence to get the job done right without any delays. History will show the heroes from the villains in this sad saga of ICT in South Africa' new democracy. We've waited 10 years to show what South Africa is capable of achieving in the world rankings, what's another 10 more years while riding the gravy-train? LOL. (for those that missed my feeble attempt at humour, just ask yourself why so many in South Africa refer to 'African Time' as opposed to 'being on time' ... the answer: things take way too long to get done. Sad part, nobody in power seems to care

I have a warped view that there are some highly influential people in this country that are getting very rich very quickly and they want to maintain the existing status quo for as long as possible, to the detriment of every single citizen in this country.
In order for the government to make any meaningful change to either the broadcasting or telecoms industry they are going to have to tramp on some genuinely big toes (including there own), and this I believe is the real reason why the rest of the world moves forward at warp speed when it comes to this topic, and we move at snails pace, getting left further and further behind each day.
Just look at the trauma Telkom shares go through when they announce that they have to spend a bit of cash, it just shows how overvalued the shares are for a telecoms entity, especially one that is now being subjected to more and more 'so called competition' and nogal at a very cushy government protected 'managed liberalisation' pace at that!!
Strewth imagine what would happen to TKG shares if the DoC were in fact doing their jobs and opened up this market in the interests of economic growth, competition and (heaven forbid do we even utter it) the people.
With the PIC and other organisations (with political clout and BEE heavyweights) also heavily invested in Telkom, its unlikely though that anything will move any faster than it already is today, no matter what the windbags from the DoC and Telkom say.
They just fart through their mouths at different velocities when the need arises to appease the masses.

What I do see is a lot of standard political double-talk. The response from government is basically to worry about the countries image. No problem, show us the plans and the money, that'll easily demonstrate that the government actually has a plan.

Minor variations on this statement seem to be popular with governments, not just ours. Vaguely make accusations that the other party is making false claims, but present no counter argument or facts.

The whole DoC is a "Negative public communication". Most of the government too. I am resinging myself to the fact that we are getting nowhere with these people despite the efforts from people like RPM etc. I mean how do you deal with someone who says things like what Lyndall Shope-Mafole said. It just takes you off guard. I give up. Mbeki, fire these people and yourself while you are about it.
