Sackboy : From what I know from my friends in CT that they all feel the DA is doing well in the city, and that they do engage with their constituents.

I'm kinda getting the feeling you don't get any response because you rant and rave about things rather than going at an issue with a well thought out and reasoned letter.

Hmmm her speech makes it sounds easy but wow I want the DA to win but to be honest I wouldn't mind most other parties winning as long as its not the ANC or COPE. I just want to see another party to win and see if they can make a difference.

To me the DA seems to be the only party who could really change things positively :)

They may be doing well in some areas, but from my perspective a lot of it is fake. If the mayor is too busy to answer reasonable, rational, eloquent e-mails, then she shouldn't make a point of claiming that she answers each and every one. I resent your suggestion that somehow my correspondence is ranting, but then you seem to feel it necessary to troll many of my posts. When will you accept that there are (many) people who have an opinion that differs from your own (thankfully).

Ok, well that you rant and rave is just a personal opinion which I'll gladly retract should you show us a rational, eloquent email that you've sent to the DA which got no response from them.

Honestly, I do know peoples opinions differ from mine, you on the other hand like to take a large brush and brand organisations from your very limited experience with them, without explaining that experience.

Now you're making assumptions again, troll. I have no intention of revealing private correspondence on this forum. You may do, but then that's your affair.

Well then given your previous assertions in at least one other thread that you've never backed up, even when challenged on them, this assertion and branding of an organisation, that has done wonders for the City of Cape Town, will be taken for what it is.. unsubstantiated and nonsense.

I chose to reveal things on forums, be it this one or others, if I feel others may have had a similar experience or can benefit from the correspondence that may ensue from it.

What do I have to substantiate. I sent correspondence over a long period. I received none back. I sent again, I received none back. We then read complaints in the Argus that Madame Zille doesn't answer e-mail and she then writes in refuting the claim, saying she DOES. What more is there to conclude and why is that nonsense?

Tell us more about these "wonders" to back up your own claim.

The fact that CT is Clean, has a thriving tourism market, and has a reputation in the rest of the country as being the place to go to.... Those are just the start of things...

Cape Town was cleaner before IMO. The council used to sweep the streets more regularly, now the DA admits they don't. Rates are higher and the money is going to the townships. Again the councilors admit this. It has always been a tourist destination. So again, I say more 'winder' than 'wonder' and you haven't substantiated your claim at all.

The city has raked in numerous awards for sustainability, and for the way its run...

Are all of these national and international bodies incorrect then?

as for it being cleaner before, yes possibly.. but I live in Durban, and when I travel to CT its like being in a different world since it is so clean and stuff works.

What stuff doesn't work in Durban?

Which awards apart from the Mayor one??

If Durban were a cesspit, would you still compare it. I mean, let's get some perspective here. Don't forget, the city is richer. The houses are more expensive and rates are linked to value. Tourism is also big business in these parts.

In 2008 -

In October this year, Cape Town was chosen by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 10 cities in the world that are most likely to become global sustainability centres by 2020.

The latest award comes on the back of Cape Town's already impressive list of accolades, which includes Africa's best city (US Travel and Leisure Best in the World Awards, July); best travel destination in Africa and the Middle East (US Travel & Leisure magazine, 2004 through 2007); and one of the world's five "Bluest Sky Destinations" (expedia.co.uk).

Thats just a small sampling of them.

Fudzy : what doesn't work in durban... lets see... a large number of the robots, the electricity system is unstable at best, the beach front is a mess, the CBD is a dirty and run down.

I wouldn't call Durban a cesspit, far from it... but it is not run anywhere NEARLY as well as Cape Town.

Yes, that is one that has happened prior to the DA regaining control in 2006.. which of course they only lost in 2003 iirc.

Intriguing that you choose to pick on that specific one, rather than comment on any of the other awards that the city has received.

My point, which you frequently miss, is that the City has received awards before. It's not a new phenomenon and cannot fully be attributed to anything Ms. Botox or the DA did.

My point, which you seem to blatantly ignore since it doesn't fit with your agenda, is that the only city that isn't run by the ANC has a reputation of being the best run city in the country, is clean, wins awards that actually mean something.

Kind of says something about the leadership of the city doesn't it?

Oh, and its Mrs Helen Zille, she does have a name and she is married
