Mmusi's opinion != DA policy.
True, but a party's leader is important to their image.
Also, the very idea of that referendum is retarded. Imagine if the ANC called a referendum on white land ownership.

Why did they lose many white supporters? It's not as if their policy position has changed over the years.
It hasn't changed yes, but it's become a lot clearer. Before it was ambiguous to say the least on matters like Empowerment and land reform. Not it's clear and some of their older support Base didn't react so well
Yes, it is retarded. Although he did clarify himself afterwards. But still, saying it's the DA flip flopping is simply untrue.
How many voters actually care about a party's policies? I suspect it's more like this - Vote:
ANC: because they will keep apartheid away
EFF: ANC is corrupt, we want free land and free everything
DA: Please fsck let the ANC not be in power anymore
Pretty sure 99% of voters don't even know the policies of the party they'll be voting for.
Sadly you may be right.
They don't need those kinds of voters, which they've also realised.
With far less corruption.
Wait until they get their hands on any real power.
I think it's unlikely they'll ever get an outright majority like the ANC has had. When we do one day have a president from DA they'll still be held accountable by the other parties.
Except if they do lose the national government the majority would have wanted it.The sad truth is that we need the ANC in power. Were the ANC to lose the national government SA would quickly descend into a race war.
The best we can and should hope for is a very reduced majority, with opposition parties in power in a minority of provinces and metropolises.
PS. This is not a policy endorsement, just a recognition of the political realities.

Funny the ANC came to the same realisation about voters like yourself
A lot of people in this thread are happy with Zuma in power clearly.
