Da moon

With the new generation of digital cameras it is now possible to practice a lot without paying a fortune on the development of films.

and it is ecologically friendlier too by not having all those chemicals sloshing all over the place.

cool thanks, I'm here trying to learn. what is a 1.4x tc?

a TC is a teleconverter, it basically mulitplies your lens by 1.4/2 but it is only usable on certain lenses.

so a 100mm with a 1.4x converter gives you 140mm

:)

Edit - You also lose 1 stop of light on a 1.4x so an F4 lens turns into a F5.6 and you also lose some image quality.

It's only compatible with the white Canon lenses.

ah, thanks. So is cheaper to use a tc rather than a bigger lens if you lose quality?

A teleconverter is more of a cheap way out to get the extra distance. The 1.4x and 2x (although no on seems to recommend the 2x) cost just under R4000 apiece, so put that together with let's say the 400mm lens (R16000 for f4) and it will be R20'000 for a 560mm f5.6 lens...
