Which one? I thought all the 300mm canon lenses were IS these days.

BTW - I've only got the one IS lens - my sigma 150-500 but I still think its over-rated.

Can't tell you exactly which one, do not have it with me now. This one is not IS, they were a bit above my price range when I bought this lens.

I have been hearing good things about the sigma's lately and they are priced better than cannon last time I looked.

My tripod has returned after I forgot it a wedding shoot a while ago. I might try a tripod and remote for a couple shots if the sky is clear soon.

I think in the context of this thread, I "cheated". It was taken with my camera mounted to the telescope.

Well it was taken with prime focus, meaning no camera lens. That means I only attached the camera body to the telescope. The telescope's focal length is 1500mm.
