Further indication that Maimane is a lightweight and the DA is further turning into a "ANC lite". The DA should be promoting itself as very distinct from the ANC.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane has extended an open invitation to the so-called ANC rebels‚ ruling party MPs who voted in support of the motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma.

Maimane indicated that ANC MPs would be welcomed in his party as long as they shared the organisation’s values‚ which include defending the constitution.

“The realignment of politics must be about the values that we share. So if the likes of [former finance minister] Pravin [Gordhan] and Makhosi stand on those issues‚ of course‚ let us build entities together that can take [SA forward]‚” Maimane said on Thursday.

“It’s a vision that we hold‚ it’s not just political pragmatism and finding a different home. It’s about saying‚ let us get together so that we can put the South African agenda forward and I am willing to work with people like that. They may not even come from the ANC‚ but various other [organisations].”

Without trying to make a race-bait statement, I would not be surprised if the reverent calculates the amount of potential white votes he'll lose vs. the amount of potential new votes he'll gain if they form a new coalition with the EFF.
 
Adding some familiar faces from the anc that are not linked to corruption isn't a bad thing. Might help the win over more votes.
 
Senior ANC members to play second fiddle with Maimane or Malema not likely. It's better to create their own party and this puts them in position of power especially if collations need to be formed to create a government.

You've missed the point, here I think. This is a good move by the DA and it goes along way to helping move SA forward. Who cares what party you came from? As long as you have a proven track record, and not involved in any scandals. Why shouldn't a good ANC MP (There are a few of them) be allowed to join a party that actually wants to drive SA forward, rather than their own agendas?

All I get from this is "I'm not a racist, but..." Anyone who leaves the DA because of this move, should not let the door hit them on the way out.

The last thing we need in our political climate, is more small parties to choose from. I'd rather they join an existing party.
 
The ANC is a rotten organisation and anybody that has been a part of it on a functional level in the past 10 or so years has been morally and ethically compromised. These people that suddenly found a conscience and voted against Zuma, they were awfully silent in the preceding years when he and his cronies were screwing the country over.

Let them band together and form another ANC splinter that peels a few more votes away from the ANC.
 
Would be a very solid political move for more reasons than I care to list.

The way I see it the BEE Billionare Wing of the ANC who most likely are going to pushed out from the Gupta puppet wing because they cannot be bought by the Guptas have more in common in with the DA than EFF ideologically speaking , an Alliance between the EFF will go up in flames because I suspect when things don't go their way the EFF will call for a non confidence vote and dissolve parliament every chance they get

Alternatively, as the available money for corruption becomes less the ministers that stand to loose the most become the most vocal on pointing out the faults of the others. I don't think there is one honest politician in the ANC. They have all been handpicked.

People can leave the DA for non-racial reasons. Maybe the white people he is talking about understand the dangers of communism for example, and don't exactly want to support a party that openly welcomes communists into its ranks.
