Hey all,

Well we just had a nice and loud storm here in PTA:eek: A nice lightning bolt struck and well my ADSL light on my modem went dead. I listened to my phone line and it was still ok. Then I reset my modem and waited a while and still the light was dead. Then I phoned our trusty Telkom;) helpline to report
a maybe possible fault. Just as I was speaking to a techie my light on my mpdem comes back up. Not to say I was very relieved. But I am not sure if maybe the modem did get some damage. It is in a surge protector and everything, but I have noticed that the light comes on and off...now at the mo, it is on and stable. Is there any way I can determine(except to take it in
to a clever pc shop and pay R 500 again) if the modem did get some damage?
It is a Billion SM5102S , one prot ethernet modem. I do not have any firmware or such things for the modem.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks!:)

Thanks!

Hey Billion Tech,

Thanks for the offer! I will remember it in future. It seems the weather also has an influence on modems/lines whatever. The modem is running constantly again since I posted - no downtime or anything. It seems I was REALLY lucky that the lightning did not fry it...eish:D
