Dark patch on my LCD

There is a small vertical patch which is darker than the rest of my screen. It almost looks like dirt but isn't. Any ideas as to what it is? The screen is a Samsung 32" LCD

Backlight issue. Not much you can do about it afaik, aside from paying for repairs.

It's more noticeable on certain colours than others, like I set it to white and its barely there. Also screen res makes a difference, and I see it on all input sources.

Reminds me of the time my son said his monitor had funny marks on it... wiped them off a put a box of tissues next to the keyboard (he sneezes a lot )

I agree with the pressure-mark diagnosis.

When you say that resolution makes a difference, do you mean that at various resolutions, the "mark" moves around? Or is it always in the exact same spot?

No the mark stays in the same position, it's just only visible at higher resolutions.

What's a pressure mark?

Very similar although not as severe as any of those cases there. Thankfully I took an extended warranty although looking at the form its juuust under a year old so I would have been safe. Just thought I'd see if there was a quick fix before phoning Makro.
