Ah what sweet news. Mugarbage has no more electricity!

Zimbabwe’s state power utility Zesa said its problems were complicated by thieves who stole wires to two pylons near Harare, which caused a break in power transmission from Mozambique.

A year ago Zimbabwe was producing nearly two-thirds of its electricity needs, but supply dropped sharply with the country now generating only half of its electricity requirements.

Lack of foreign currency has also meant the country has not been able to settle electricity bills, which has resulted in supplies being cut off by other suppliers such as Mozambique.

Now he will have to pump jet fuel by hand if he wants to go on his global shopping expeditions.

Eskom has finally woken up to cutting the power to the north.

How can we even be %100 sure that they cut the power? They might just be saying so to get the public of their backs. :(

"There is no surplus, so there are no exports," Neke added.

But you signed a 15-year contract with Namibia - despite the fact that you KNEW that there was a power shortage looming in the next 2 years (should the reports that YOUR engineers issued be believed). So they are legally bound to supply Namibia - how can they tell us they have cut supplies?

Yup back to brown, peak usage is from 5pm - 8pm. Expect loadshedding kiddies.

So does this mean that more power is being used after 5?...After most businesses are closed??

TVs, hi-fis, hot baths, cooking, cleaning... people are doing other things than using their PCs and aircons at the office.

Yeah but the downside is their populous will continue moving south in the pursuit of greener pastures which is perhaps why the government is trying to hold Zims infrastructure together, cause ours cannot handle the constant deluge of illegal immigrants...

Maybe we should put up an electrified fence along the border of zimbobwe and SA.

Thinking.....

On second thought, scratch that. Let's just use that electricity to put mugarbage in an electric chair and fry him.

Strange that the power meter always shoots up from 16H00 to 20H00, but the majority of loadshedding is done during the day (08H00 to 16H00). Sure does not correllate.

I think very little planning has been done by eskom for a few years but domestic demand is more important than supplies to our neighbours. Only surplus power should exported, eskom is here for SA, not the rest of Africa.

Maybe many of these countries should cut the BS, listen to the IMF/World Bank and do what they can do to secure enough loans to build their own powerstations. Swallow the pride, it worked for many others before (ahem West Germany, South Korea etc).
