Hi all,

For those who know what I do, will know why I want these.

I'm looking for something like this (specifically RED only, not blue);

Where else in Cape Town can I buy something like this? (besides Emergency Extreme)

Anyone in Montague Gardens? Paarden Eiland?

Thanks guys!

I am yes. In the process of registering my vehicle as an emergency vehicle.
But having said that, I am also trying to FIND one of those.

Out of interest, How does 1 go about dong that ?

You can also put in some strobe lights in your headlights and reverse lights,

I don't know the procedure, it was done for me.
I know I can only use RED and I only plan on using the dashboard LED's because I don't want to mess with the electronics of the car (warranty etc)

I have also always wanted these, would help in traffic or when someone pisses me off.

I think all emergency vehicles have fairly strict rules. I see ambulances here in Pretoria with their lights on plenty (and I can see the light in the back of the vehicle on also and it looks like someone is in the back). But they almost never have their sirens on and always (even with sirens on) stop at red robots. Worst I've seen them do is skip red after stopping first.

As for police, I used to see them abuse their lights but lately I just see them driving with them on, but not skipping lights or speeding. When I do see police vehicles with sirens on tho, recently at least, they haven't done anything I would have construed as dangerous. They are also usually in packs so it's fairly obvious it's not just casual use.

There must have been change of laws as of late because I can't believe that everyone of those drivers suddenly decided to drive responsibly.

Perhaps when you are done gdiza you could enlighten us to the rules and so forth :)

I want green LED version of that.

I've gotten contact details for someone today, will hear if he has red too.

Let me know supersunbird, please! :)

Oh, SSB: Green in CPT is used by DRM (Disaster Risk Management)

Also, it doesn't need to look EXACTLY like the picture I posted, that's just the general idea of what I want.

So my GF found out:

He can make red ones on request, they are around R250 to R300. I don't know how long it take for a custom order. You'll probably need 2, one for the front window and one for the rear?

We use the green ones for the CPF/neighbourhood watch, but only when there is cause for requiring greater visibility (closed road, accident or such, we do play a civil safety role), green light on roof suffices for normal patrolling

Just called the guy in question and had a brief chat with him, SMS'd him my contact details, let's see what he says... will keep you guys informed.

@SSB - can your contact also make a roof-mounted green LED light doohicky? - I also do CPF patrols and want my own green light.

Thanks! :)

Lib, I'm sure he can... I'll PM you the number, just chat to him and see what he says.
If not a roof, a dash unit will suffice.

I've sorted myself out!

One of my friends called me last night and gave me the web address www.uniontechsa.co.za

Goto the web site, it ultimately takes you to a 'another' web site but use it as a catalogue.
Those guys however sell like... EVERYTHING!!!

Suffice to say, I contacted them, spoke to the Cape Town guy and have ordered my unit, 4 red LED dash board set via 12v. Something like R600± which is priced GREAT!

They apparently do all the ER24 vehicles and most of the police / metro etc.
