Dashboard Cameras

70mai has launched a new camera which is in the shipping stage of its crowd funding campaign.

I already ordered mine.
How much did it set you back?

I'm looking at getting a dashcam, something clear and reliable especially during our hot South African summers.

Anyone using one of the newer Garming Dashcams - i.e Mini, 46, 56, 66W or Tandem ? How are they ?
Also, any good alternatives to consider in 2021 ?

Is it better to find a dashcam that uses a capacitor instead of a battery for better reliability especially when driving for a long time in direct sunlight ?

Thanks

I've been using the Garmin 66W for a while, best feature is the voice commands.

Anyone know who the best dashcam installers are in Cape Town? Been down the road of installing it myself before, but this time I want someone who really knows what they're doing.

Does anyone have suggestions for basic video editing software? Something to clip/cut and perhaps convert from one format to another? I have been using VS Player with my CCTv footage which has been great but I can't get it to clip/cut the Garmin 55 footage.
VIRB Edit is a programs specifically tailored to edit Garmin dash cam clips

If anybody is looking for a dashcam, I have to find a new home for my Garmin Mini early next week

Samsung introduces new Endurance microSD cards

Samsung unveiled its new series of microSD cards, optimized for video recording in Full HD and 4K. Called Pro Endurance, they are designed to meet “rigorous demands of surveillance cameras, dashboard cameras, doorbell cameras, body cameras, and more”.

According to the official statement, the card can record non-stop for 16 years, provided the host device manages to offload the content quick enough.

The Samsung Pro Endurance is built with in-house NAND flash memory and can last as long as 33 “typical speed-focused cards” which are the Evo Plus series. Reading speeds are up to 100 MB/s, while writing is up to 40 MB/s, depending on the capacity.

The cards are rated Class 10 with U3 (UHS Speed Class 3) and V30 (Video Speed Class 30), but once again - only particular versions.
