Hi All,

After, yet another super close call today - I think it's time for a dashcam.

What are using?
What do you hate about it?
If you could upgrade, what will you get next?

Thanks
Grant

What is important to me is angle of the lens wider is better, FPS and resolution higher is better.

I bought one at a flea market for R 200, you get what you pay for, can’t really read the number plates of other cars so it’s useless.

I use a Garmin 45 in my bakkie. Records GPS location, speed, date and time. Has built in speed camera file, collision and lane departure warning, switch it off as it gets annoying. What I don’t like is how to get the material off, via wi-fi to you smart phone.

My other car has Garmin 30. Very basic, only records date and time and no sound. To get the material just plug camera into PC or eject micro sd card.

Maybe have a look at the Garmin Dash Cam Mini

Here is a excellent special from Trappers Garmin 45 for R 1799.00

I use the Garmin Dash Cam Player (GDCPlayer) utility for Windows (now discontinued by Garmin in favour of wi-fi connectivity using their Drive app for their newer dashcams) & a USB cable to download all my Garmin DC45 recorded videos to my PC & then I can also use the same utility to snip out the portions of recorded footage I want to preserve.

I also use the Videoarty VideoProc software on my PC as well if I need to remove/replace audio on my saved footage as well - as YouTube sometimes detects copyrighted music (playing from the car radio / USB) and nags about it when I post clips there.

Also check out this thread where I also posted a lot of info about Garmin dashcams & installation wiring tips as well.
