As the title says, any recommendations or experience to share with dash cameras? I want to get one before the December break, hitting the long road. I hear it helps to keep the cops honest as well.

I have the 70mai Dashcam Pro. It has treated me well. My only complaint is that the GPS module I bought with it isn't a snug fit, so it sometimes gets loose. I also recommend a hardwire instead of looping a cable to a USB port. If I were to replace it anytime soon, I'd get the A800 as it has a GPS built in.

Any way around having to physically remove the SD card everytime you want the video?

The apps on both my Xiaomi and DDPai connect very inconsistently so I have to remove the Micro SD cards. Both are recessed and a PITA.

I would love a cam that would connect to the home wifi and sync up to my PC.

Are there such things?

With ARTO coming I consider this vital.

I really want the Hikvision AI one. Has some really cool features and awesome video quality.

I'm following this topic with great interest.
It'll be an early Xmas present.
I'd want one with a rather wide angle lense and that can record at night.
It'll be for long trips,

Also have. DDPai... That app is clunky AF but it does the job. Cloud sync to Google drive or something would be great when you connect to the home wifi

Cool, so does it cycle through once the SD card is full? Or how do you determine the recorded video time?

All of the previous generation & current generation Garmin dash cams have built-in wi-fi capabilities:

Wirelessly Sync Videos to Your Smartphone
Dash Cam 45 / 55 / 65W has built-in Wi-Fi® so you can wirelessly sync videos to your compatible smartphone after downloading the free VIRB® Mobile app. This makes it easy to share videos with friends, insurance agencies or legal authorities."

VIEW AND SHARE VIDEO
Built-in Wi-Fi® connectivity (Mini / 46 / 56 / 66W) and BLUETOOTH® technology let you upload saved footage to your compatible smartphone running the Garmin Drive app, so you can easily view, edit and share videos.

For the dashcam, do you guys just let the cable hanging or have to hide them behind the interior trims? And where do you connect them, to the cigarette plug or the fuse box?

question for you guys in the know, do all the above have the same sort of power adapters, IE Micro USB
I wont have to take apart my cars dashboard again to use a better Dashcam.

Also have a look at the Blackvue range of dashcams as well - they're at the higher end of the market - so more expensive than the 'el-cheapo' Fong Kong models you get on AliBaba or e-Bay.

Viofo A119 v3 (or any of the newer models) would be my choice due to the use of a supercapacitor rather than battery. I've had my v1 for 3 years now without hassle.

I bought the optional Garmin 'Parking Mode' power cable & had it hard-wired into an 'always on' circuit in my fuse box and routed behind the a-pillar trim & headlining to just behind the interior rear-view mirror where the magnetic mounting point is attached to the windscreen - it provides constant power and the dash-cam monitors motion detected in front of your vehicle or impacts even when parked and turned off. The cable is 4 meters long.
