As the title says, any recommendations or experience to share with dash cameras? I want to get one before the December break, hitting the long road. I hear it helps to keep the cops honest as well.

Your silent witness, I had 3 and all I can say is u get what u pay for don’t compromise.

Damn! I lost on the Hikvision one day only deals.
Anyone has any comment on the Volkano 1080 dash cam?

Any reason why you haven't uploaded in 10 months?
CoVID-19 happened & I no longer drive on the N2 highway so much anymore - just mostly a 2 km drive up to the local mall for shopping every 10 days or so.

I did do a trip to Port Edward & back again earlier this week - so will download the dashcam footage, and then edit & post the clips of interest - there were MANY transgressions I witnessed - as well as a horrific fatal accident scene I came across near the Kei River bridge on my way back home on Wednesday afternoon, involving a truck & trailer transporting railway carriage bogies (wheels) that apparently 'lost control' in the rainy & misty conditions, ploughed into a SUV in the opposite lane, crushing it & its occupants completely, and then overturned, spewing its load of bogies all over the road, culvert and embankment.

I will hopefully be posting all that edited content on my YouTube channel over the weekend or early next week.

Grabbed one of these bad boys today. Had it installed because I don’t want cables all over the place.

Not sure how they’ve tied it in but it know things. Like when I put the car off and open the door it chimes, but just stopping the car doesn’t create that effect. Quality seems decent from the brief bit of testing I’ve done. Need to learn all the controls and such, not sure if it records automatically or if I need to enable it each time.

Did the installers fit & wire in one of these Garmin 'Parking Mode' cables (PART NUMBER 010-12530-03)?

This is hard-wired into a vehicle accessory circuit that remains powered when the ignition is turned off & the key removed, so that the dashcam automatically goes into 'sentinel mode' (standby) and will record any movement in front of it, or when an impact (like a parking ding) is detected.

Good question, one I don't have the answer to. The camera has a parking mode though, which I have enabled.

I bought my Viofo A119 V3 with Power Magic Pro hardwire kit from CarDashCam Shop in 2017. Excellent quality video. Still using it and runs very well. I see they also offer other makes and models. I think pricing very competitive with international pricing. Received dashcam following day after placing order.

Does it record sex on the car? No skelm or legit nookies on the outside car areas that includes movement or sudden impact.

Here's how to get the best dash cam in 2021 - Roadshow

Focus on these specs and don't get distracted by bells and whistles that aren't going to make a big difference in everyday use. Doing so will also help you buy the best dash cam for the best price.
