Dashcam recommendations

What was the deciding factor for you between the two models that you were considering, if I may ask?
The main thing was the compactness; it fits really well in my car. Video quality is decent, and it's reasonably easy to get data off (private Wi-Fi; it has built-in memory).

I am also in the market for one.
Tried the U2 models on Takelot, but the footage was shockingly poor. Could not even decipher a number plate if the car was right in-front of me.
Have now ordered the Hikvision F6 Pro to see if that might be better.

For me the quality of the footage counts the most. Features comes 2nd.
So what's the verdict.? Worth it?

To date I am happy.
Footage is fine, but I cannot say the same about the APP.
To remove the SD card once the camera is installed, is nearly impossible.
Once you do, the footage does not contain any of the GPS data.
Somehow the APP combines the footage and the data into a single video stream, but then you only have it available on your phone.
Perhaps I am just user constrained?

The hikvision is a great camera but the wifi is absolutely **** and you can't download footage with new firmware.
Can these Chinese guys not just make these things work properly?
You have tp remove the memory card which in itself is a difficult process.

My guess is that the cam doesn't have a GPS unit in it, the app wants location access and that is why you see it in the app

Garmin Dash Cam Live Review: Function Beyond A Camera For Your Car - SlashGear

Dashcams are great for a number of reasons. Entire YouTube channels have grown around dashcam footage. On a personal level, they can help protect you in the event of some kind of emergency.

Having a record of the person dangerously swerving all over the road before slamming on the brakes to make you rear-end them can be the difference between losing an expensive lawsuit and winning one.

But what if a dash cam could be even more useful? What if a dashcam could use some AI, GPS, and some other smart features to be a proactive protector over your car and its occupants?

That's a question that Garmin wanted to explore. So the Garmin Dash Cam Live was born.

This is the sort of dashcam you show someone if they've never considered buying a dashcam because they think they have no use for driving footage — it might just change their mind.

This is a warning not to do business with this site or it's director. He advertised products as being available when he does not have stock.
He will take your money and not inform you after you have paid that there is no stock.
When you query why your product has not shipped he will give you a story about some company having taken all his stock a few hours before your order and that he is waiting for new stock.
When you ask for a refund, although your funds have been in their account for days, he will make you wait.
And after all this, he will reply with un-professional comments and child like behavior. All in all a very poor experience to be had.
