Data AND VOICE over 3G

Doing a little bit of research. Seeing as NOVATEL Wireless NEVER reply to their incoming email. V3G I see you are back from your wandering. PLEASE can you tell me WHY you sign deals with companies that are so UNHELPFUL

Anyway -- , in the past I have ranted on about VOICE and 3G .....

Well it now seems to be a reality thanks to OPTION NV

Any of the techno fundis care to comment. ( They are SO scarce around here ) Seeing as NOVATEL are so full of BS , I am thinking of putting one of these babies in my D830. YES YES I know. ACER already use this brand in their 3G Laptops -- as sold in SA. ( So they MUST work on the SA networks )

HAVE VC had a look at this one ? Will all these EXTRA features WORK on the SA network ?

Come on V3G -- you have just had such a nice holiday -- time to get back to the grindstone.

Talking cryptically is very cool in company but really stuffs up what you're trying to convey when used on a public, text-only forum.

Voice has always been part of 3G, but you rather must explain more what you need to know.

I have yet to see any sort of DATA device supporting VOICE. I know that the network using a MOBILE PHONE supports DATA & VOICE BUT have yet to see an EMBEDDED DATA device supporting BOTH Voice & Data

IF you followed on to that link I provided , then the full specs of this little wonder are explained. Perhaps ask one of your "Rocket-Scientist" engineers to explain. IF I am not mistaken this would be the first card of it's kind to be offered on the PUBLIC network. ????

Does that explain things in a slightly clearer manner ?

It's not part of the required spec to include voice in data devices, so it's up to the manufacturer to do so. The first few 3G-only data cards I had did support voice and video calls and I could make the calls from my laptop with them.

But it'll be a feature (or not) of your specific device and then you'll also need an app to access the features.

Indeed you did mention something in passing -- but without much detail -- so please forgive us if it slipped our memory.

It's not part of the required spec to include voice in data devices, so it's up to the manufacturer to do so. The first few 3G-only data cards I had did support voice and video calls and I could make the calls from my laptop with them.

We are not all so lucky as to get all sorts of new and exciting and "experimental" goodies to play around with.

Would you care to expand on who made these "first-few" with a few more details of how it all worked.

It would appear that we are in fact going BACKWARDS then --if these features WERE available , but are NOT NOW.

Just goes to show to what extent normal Joe Soap is at the mercy of these manufacturers and the networks.

YOU want MMS ?
