Hi all

As of April 2020 but data consumption levels with Axxess have been extremely high so high that I depleted 100Gb within 9 days and when I told them what I do on a day to day basis which is gaming and downloading movies from time to time they advised me that gaming takes a lot of data which is not true and I don't download recklessly because I'm aware of my capsize but in April data started disappearing even at 2 in the morning when no one is using it showed that I used like 1 gig when absolutely no one was online and when you compare the past 2 months graphs to April its crazy and Axxess support cant provide a good enough reason for this is anyone else experiencing this issue and please take note that I've force stopped all windows updates from cmd so nothing will download and game updates are not on automatic I will never use my data so recklessly considering that i use my own data to work from home.

1. Switch off WiFi and change password.
2. Do you have kids? Start there.
Most parents live under a rock.
3. Movies and HD Streaming will eat your data within minutes. A single movie can be anything from 2GB (YIFY) to 20GB or more, depending on the quality.
4. Netflix can eat through your data.
5. YouTube can eat data set at max and running the whole day. (kids?)
4. Gaming can also take up data, but not as much as videos. Unless you download and update games.
5. Windows 10 Updates.

There are so many reasons your data is high. It is most likely you and not the Internet Ghost.

Install glasswire on all your phones, PCs and laptops connected to the internet.. It will monitor all applications using data and you can check from there who and what the bandwidth hogs are..

only 2 people are using the wifi and like I said I download movies from time to time and when I do download its only like 800mb never bigger then that

This is why I suggested you install glasswire on all your connected devices, in which will allow you to monitor where traffic is going and find out who or what is using all of your data...

I honestly suspect data usage meter on Axxess is messed up considering that it shows I've reached mt capsize but I can still access the internet and my brother is still gaming so what's everyone's take on that I should've been cut off already but I wasn't

I've never been with axxess, but these kind of things are rarely inaccurate, been with a couple of ISP and they don't really make mistakes on these data usages.

There are good post replies in this thread,

  1. you should really check the movie / tv series what quality you streaming at. If you watching youtube at a high hd quality it will consume your data very quickly as well.
  2. Adware on your pc.
  3. So your router device history is only 2 devices? what about your smart phones? It should be more than 2 devices.
You didn't state if you online gaming or just local gaming. Online gaming does use quite some data if you compare it to normal browsing. I use to use 100gigs a month when I gamed, Once I stopped for a month I had like 60gigs left in a month i didn't use up. Well I hardly use the internet when I don't game, usually doing things offline, so the number might be more extreme.

You're right it's like 4 devices including our phones but we have been gaming for a very long time without having this problem hence I provided the images to look at this is the first time this is happening and my brother was unemployed for 3 months last year and all he did was game online and our data never reached its capsize and I would stream videos on 480p and still not have this issue but anyway thanks everyone for all the help but considering that I'm still connected and it showed that I used all my data is very strange

If you game close to the amount your brother games, shouldn't that double the gaming usage already. Since April is the lockdown so everyone has more time on their hands.

On average a 480p 60 minute video is +/- around 500mb. That is half a gig. Just FYI. If you and your brother combined watches more than 120min a day of youtube videos. It's one gig there already.

And everyone has more time now during lockdown so the data will spike up a lot. We usually only have 4 hours of night time, now we have a whole day and night.

Good practice for capped users is always know how much gigs you use per day, on average and during weekends. And understand where you mostly using it. With the lockdown being a special case you should plan ahead as usage will be much higher with the extra time we have now.

FYI not everyone has a lot of time during lockdown considering that we have to work most of the time plus when I'm done working I don't have time to game so most of the time its 1 person gaming for a couple of hours during the day and I barely watch videos for 30minutes on youtube

Still check for other's on the wi-fi -- people and neighbours are home and bored.
If you still think it is your ISP, switch off all devices connected and see what happens then.
