Data counting when using router/Data card

Hello,

I’m from overseas and since two week we are emigrated to SA. Now we live in a temporary house without a landline. So, I've bought a datacard (E620) (+MTN-sim) and a router (Syslink WRT54G3G) and Pay as you Go 500MB data bundle.

Due to this config (I can't use the MTN F@stlink software) I can't see how much data I am using. But what I need to know is how much I'll use within a e.g. month.

I know that the browser page of the modem has a 'status'-page. But this only counts the data within a session. And I'll switch off the router at night.

Is there any way or a program which can count the data I have spend over a specific period?

Would a program like DUMeter be unsuitable in your situation?

Here's another idea that might help. There is a program that records router statistics like the noise margin etc. called routerstats. Once properly configured it can directly access information from any of the web pages in the router. You should be able to get it to select the bandwidth usage instead of the downstream noise margin or the Rx or Tx packets etc. and then save the information in a suitable form. Alternatively you might be able to use telnet directly to get this information from the router just before you shut down your machine/router every day and use a small program to keep a running total.

Fairly late, but thanks

Indeed those programs would probably do, but those are PC apps. An OS X solution would be preferable to me (sorry I didn't told you so).
