I am going to port from MTN and am trying to understand the Cell C pricing.

Am I correct in assuming that if I take a "Straight Up 30" contract, that the monthly data after I have exceeded the 30MB allocation is charged at 15c/MB?.

Also, what are the benefits of the "99 cents Topup" packages, which seem to be exactly the same thing?

15c/MB not Rand

and yes.
Thanks, fixed.

This seems like a strange pricing structure. What are the benefits of the more expensive 99c packages, which just seem to offer higher minimums at the same price?

The difference I think is how much credit they'll give you once you've used up the 'free' stuff. My R30 contract has a limit of R120 while my R100 contract has a limit of R400. So its basically 4 x your contract amount.

No, you will have to load a separate data bundle to be eligible for the 15c per meg out of bundle. Otherwise you get charged 99c per meg.. Just buy a R7.50 data bundle, and you will be charged 15c per meg after you used that amount (for 30 days). Easiest would be just to buy the R7.50 data bundle on the 1st of each month :)

And as far as I know, the top up bundles only give you extra free stuff every time that you recharge airtime.

Thanks. I am thinking that I may just avoid all this and go prepaid.

If I am on a prepaid account, will I be able to get international roaming and receive international calls. The receiving calls from overseas is particularly important to me.

Yes you will get the calls. You can also take up the topup contract on a month-to-month basis. More convenient than prepaid and but effectively the same thing and very quick and easy to cancel.

Receive international calls and SMS's - yes
International roaming - only on contract (last time I have heard)
