Is it possible to recover data from my 2 hard drives that is in a raid format, i don't what version of raid it is, but basically it adds the two hdd's and give a combined storage.

The NAS also got some damage to the network port.

Another question: Will it work if i take them and put it in the exact same model NAS?

I managed to find out it is JBOD. Now what i am thinking is if i can't get it to work, to plase them in the new nas and format them en then try recovery software.

Any other ideas?

what NAS device is this? Have you contacted the supplier? A lot of suppliers have RAID recovery tools for their specific NAS devices

It is the Dlink DNS-323, i am going to phone them tomorrow. I really hope they can do it for me.

I suggest you to contact some RAID Recovery Services. Moreover, you should not try to recover the data before sending it to a data recovery company. As, mostly it happens, the users fail to recover and make the process of data recovery harder. Data recovery companies follow procedures to recover the data and it is best left to them once more.

Concurred.

Generally it is easier to recover from a single HDD than from a RAID (depending on the nature of the crash).

Data recovery specialists know what software to use to recover your data, and they have the tools and storage space required to do so.

i have accepted my loss :(

the drives are reformatted and in the new NAS working again, but i will keep it in mind should it happen again. I have however now set it up as 2 single drives

I had the exact same problem - thing is I NEEDED my stuff back, so went on a hunt.

Many many MANY places said it could not be recovered, even most sites on google didnt help much.

Found some software, called Active @Undelete....paid about R800 for it - worked like a charm. So anyone with Raid Issues, might be your last option. Doesnt change anything on the drive, recovers the data to a new drive. So if it doesnt work at least you know you can still take it somewhere!

P.S - This can recover them as 2 single drives as well, and makes a "virtual" raid system. Even after the format you may be able to recover your stuff. Download the Demo and give it a try!

Don't have any idea about Raid recovery but this data recovery software really works. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software, a file and partition recovery utility which recovers data from even formatted hard drives.
You can try the software by downloading the demo version from: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
Demo shows the preview of the recovered data.

Hey, have you ever heard about http://www.diskemergency.com it’s also one of the best among the all data recovery service providers. It has many ways to recover our data from any disk. Hope this will work out for you.
All the best!
