Hi

I recently switched to Linux Mint 'Rebecca' and I am still using my MTN usb modem.
When I was on Windows the dialogue box for MTN would load when I plugged in the modem
and from there I could get my messages, see my remaining data, and monitor my usage etc.

I can now no longer get that dialogue box with Linux.

Is there any other monitor I can download or does anyone know how to correct it.

Cheers all

Hi ginggs
Thanks for your reply.
I did try the Modem Manager but it is not really that good as it doesn't let me get my messages (though it tells me I have 25 messages so far)
I cannot see my remaining airtime so I have to wait till it runs out before I know, which is a pain if your in the middle of something
and you need to run out and get more airtime.
Maybe I should contact MTN what do you think?

I can read SMS and check my balance using USSD with modem-manager-gui.

Hi ginggs

I am on Modem Manager GUI as I write this mail, In the USSD option on the request window I have *100#
In the main window I have:-

*100#
Welcome to MTN Voicemail Service Options
1. Missed call notification (MCN)
USSD session is active. Waiting for your input..
.
What is the input???

In my SMS window I have :-
This is folder for your incoming SMS messages.
You can answer selected message using 'Answer' button.

Answer button is not active.
When I log on to the network it tells me i have 25 messages

Regards

I don't think *100# is the correct USSD code for MTN, see:

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I'll try reading an SMS tonight and post here.

Hi Ginggs

Thanks for your info I can now get my up to date data information using *141#.
I can also get my messages now, when i click on incoming messages the arrow moves and points to the side
(it wasn't noticed before) and then clicking on the arrow opens my messages and other functions.
Thanks a million

Regards
Snowy
