Hi guys

Sorry if this was posted before, but I think there are certain apps on my HTC using tons of GPRS and using up my airtime quite quickly. What I need is the following:

- An app that can tell me which apps are using data
- An app that can disable data usage on those apps

I don't want to disable data usage completely, as I have other apps that rely on GPRS.

If you know of such apps, please let me know.

TIA

I use to use 3G watchdog. It will serve your purpose. No I just switch off my data manually.

Can somebody shine some light on what ad-hoc package of the VC-variety should be considered for use with the DHD on average use, auto-sync email, news rss, whatsapp usage, app updates when necessary, and general web browsing, quick lookup etc. Not much for youtube on my phone, just general usage?

Next month I'm switching to TopUp and was thinking to do the online once-off data purchases?

Also, re 3g watchdog, does't it kill battery, dunno where but I think I read that in the app comments or thereabouts>

I've made peace with my Desire HD. I like to watch my YouTube videos in HD, so I buy a 2.3GB data bundle every two months (it rolls over for one month, so I use 1GB a month).

try make the best of the situation.

usually i have WiFi coverage, when im not at home/work (at a mall say) im on 3G, and usually 150mb gets me through the month. I can still watch my HD youtube with no guilt ;)

OOooh can I pimp my blog :P

/hides again :)

Edit: Forgot to mention, it actually is about Android and what applications you can use to manage your data use.

Soz to hijack the thread ......

I'm getting one of these phones in like the next week, so was just curious, there is a way to turn off all this data usage right? I want to be able to decide when I use data or not.

Which phone you getting. I have the Samsung Galaxy S on froyo and it is possible for me. On Eclair I couldn't switch the data off without a specific app from the market.

I got a 5GB cellc data card for my Galaxy Tab, you kinda have to have something like that with something like this.

Only if you dont have access to WiFi already, then you can mix and take the load off your sim. Personally I dont use WiFi on my phone and it normally get by with just 1 gig a month and end up using the sim on my PC to download all kinds of junk at the end of the month so I dont lose the other 4 gig.

I have wifi at work and at home. I kinda use my tablet to torrent with.... so thats what the wireless is for. Im a heavy media junkie, constantly watching and uploading youtube video and stuff, so I work through my 5GB quickly. Also if my uncapped at home or work is having issues, I set my tab as a wireless AP and my wife and I can continue gaming or browsing the net.

Reason I torrent to my tab is it connects very nicely straight to my HD media player.... so it makes my life easier.
