Datsun Go! Thoughts

Work colleague collected his new Go+ a few works ago.

Nissan/Datsun gave him a good trade in on his banged up old Tata.

Disappointed in made in India cars the metal sheet used in those cars, leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Honda Brio, Datsun Go and Toyota Etios they used coffee tin. I don't want to see one of those cars involved in an accident.

Honestly you will find that the sheet metal is not any different to what you will find in most cars, the lack of soundproofing and design might make cheaply made cars look worse.

Oh is that like a van kind of thing? Oh well. Guess that is why he went for it then. Tata launched the Nexon this week in India and I hope they bring it here. Looks like a awesome little SUV

It is, question is how do carry seven people in there plus luggage and still manage to go with only 50 kW, some things just don't make sense.

Work colleague said the sales dude said the stock 14" steelies handle poorly. When he bought his Go+ they thru in the wider 15" alloys for free.

He paid extra for roof racks as he loves to surf. It will carry his boards.

So far all running smoothly. If I hear anything additional I'll pop it here.

"Work colleague"...is there any other kind of colleague? "Colleague" on its own already refers to a person working with you...tautology much? :)

Anyway back on topic, nice that he got the alloys for free. The Go is not my cup of tea, but one understands the cost factor that drives these purchases. A new car with a guarantee is still better than an old skedonk if the latter gives you endless problems.

well start with this:

is the exhuast about to fall off?
and has he gotten tired of no key to open the boot?
even though there is supposedly central locking.....

wonder if it makes that grinding sound from 3rd to 2nd....

SA's most affordable car? Datsun Go holds on to title

The annual Kinsey Report has – for the third time in a row – announced that Datsun Go has been named South Africa’s most affordable car.

The Kinsey Report, which is regarded as the most comprehensive survey on everyday motoring, covers vehicles available locally. The report surveyed parts pricing of 69 vehicles across nine segments and the prices were sourced during July 2017.

Cost of vehicle ownership

The Kinsey Report focuses on the price of car parts which ultimately affects your insurance premium and repair costs on a vehicle. The report highlights the true cost of vehicle ownership and has become the benchmark independent parts pricing survey in the South African motoring industry.

Under the category of City Cars – entry level cars for first time buyers, the Datsun Go has been named the best overall in the service, repair and crash parts sections respectively.

Des Fenner, General Manager of Datsun South Africa, says: “With 2017 results of the Kinsey report, it is further evidence of the Datsun Go’s attractive pricing structure in SA, which ensures that South Africans can still maintain their vehicles at affordable prices, even in these tough economic conditions.”

'Affordable motoring'

By scooping the title for the third consecutive year, it is testament that Datsun is fulfilling its promise to bring quality, affordable motoring to South Africans.

“The Datsun Go has brought independence from public transport schedules to many and provided them with the personal mobility that has enabled these buyers to find and access new opportunities within the economy,” says Fenner.

The affordability of parts, in conjunction with class leading fuel consumption, makes the total cost of ownership (TCO) one of the best in South Africa. Not only is the purchase price of the car affordable (now at R 1999 per month – 0% dep/72 months, includes 1-year insurance and a new smartphone), but the TCO over the life of the car is the most affordable.

Fenner further maintains that “the Go has not only helped motorists to contain motoring costs at a time when there are massive budget pressures on most households, but has also enabled many South Africans to enter the new car market for the first time.

"The Datsun Go continues to make an indelible impression on the entry-level vehicle segment.”
