Daytime congestion

Hi

Since about two weeks ago, I have been having intermittent signal from 8ta. Right now I dont have any connection at all. (I am currently on my fallback Vodacom connection)

I use a monthly top-up package. If this do not improve before the end of the month, I will not renew my package and maybe give CellC or Vodacom a try.

-- Update --

I have submitted an email to social@8ta. However if you going to take two weeks to reply, it will be to late because then you have lost a customer.

Was having the same issue with my Neotel NeoGo data stick last night, trying to watch the Stormers / Blues game. NeoGo is supposed to be a 3 Meg line. Will recharge my 8ta sim before the next game & see how that performs.

From my streaming experience i find it is usually the stream uploader that are where the issues lie.

Speedtest.net used to give me a speed average of about 3Mb, any time of the day. Until about a month ago something changed, suddenly. [email protected], don't expect much. I've given up, and are now forced to be happy with my connection that can be anything from 0.02 to 2.8 Mb.

I have been pleastly suprised by 8ta service (first month trying the 2 + 1 package). Actually better than Cell C (frequent disconnects) here in Table View.

Watched the second half of the Lions game this afternoon and the stream was fantastic. When it came to the Stormers / Bulls game, it was rubbish. The stream was breaking up every couple of minutes, missing a lot of highlights. Was a damn shame.

Hi rph72!

Seeing that there are different congestion patterns on a weekend, this should not have happened. Have you contacted the website providing the streaming? Have you perhaps tested pings/speeds during these times and did the results differ? If so, please can you PM us your contact and 8ta details so we can investigate.

Did none of the above. Will keep it in mind for next time.

I'm more convinced than ever that 8ta are providing some form of shaping to the Internet Promo 5. I've still got this intermittent problem when streaming DSTV, but when I do a speed check I get speeds in excess of 5mbps. I connected via my Vodacom account and there is no issue, so there's nothing wrong from the DSTV side. Surely it can only be 8ta shaping then? Or am I missing something?

EDIT: During the Bulls game earlier this evening neither the rugby nor El Classico streamed without hanging every 5 seconds on my 8ta connection (it did on my VC connection). Now that the rugby is finished El Classico is working fine - so I'm guessing it's a congestion issue on my tower?
