Hi guys

I wanna install some DRL's on my Focus and need some help from anyone who knows how to do it. Ive read that you connect the black wire to the negative on the battery and the red wire into the fusebox ignition or something like that so that the DRL's come on when you switch on the car and go off when you switch of the car.

Below is a pic of the DRL's i have and below that is a pic of what im trying to do. Any help would be appreciated.

The way I did mine, because I couldn't be bothered to find the fusebox ignition, was to run the black cable to the negative battery terminal, just strip it and loop is around the terminal a few times. Then run the red one through the firewall and into the back of the dash, here's where it get's tricky, you need to position yourself so that you can see up behind your dash. I had my head into driver footwell with my legs over the seat for this. Now, you're looking for a really thick yellow wire that comes from the ignition. Strip it in the middle somewhere, strip the red wire, join them and use a **** load of electrical tape to make sure that connection never sees the light of day.

That's the electrical side done. You also need some help with the mounting?

I see so many people doing this to their cars. If it is not OEM - it just looks odd.

That Focus with DIY lights looks far from odd imho

I agree some cars it looks fine. The focus looks like it might pull it off.

Also, some people use the tube lights..looks even worse. At least these look OEM.

Yes they started the mess. They work fine in the cold dark Northern hemisphere where it gets dark just past lunchtime but they are overkill down here.
Irritates the living shiiit out of me every time I see them

There's a word for that: envy.

It shows that they do their job and the half blind people among us also recognise approaching vehicles.

WTF would you wanna do that?

You don't need to run a wire to the negative battery terminal, just pick up the closest earth point. As for the positive wire find a live point when you turn the ignition key to the second position (just before you start the car, not the first position). Just check what point that is and the fuse it runs off.

Mmmm are those legal?
Hid headlights?
Your drl lights have to be 30cm from the ground.

Overkill in my opinion.
