DayZ - Anyone still playing?

Are zombies actually a threat now?

This was my main gripe with the mod and the game when I still played. Once you figure out that zombie AI is completely trash and easily exploitable, the game devolves into a PvP game, which got boring after a while.

If the zombies were an actual threat people would think twice about lighting someone up in a city or town. As it was, if you had a gun you could do whatever you want. There was no downsides to using a gun since even if you attracted some zombies, you could just avoid them or make them glitch into buildings.

They are a little bit better. Dont aggro too many at once. But if you climb high or go into a house they are easy to pick off

Yeah that's what I mean...

Going into a small house should not be a solution to a bunch of zombies chasing you. Seems the game hasn't changed much in that aspect.

I would return to the game if they were actually a threat. Not because I want a PvE game (there are plenty of those), but because I like the dynamic that it creates. If you run into a person or group you do not know, do you risk trusting him/them just so you don't have to deal with a horde running you down if you were to immediately shoot? Maybe you can work together to loot the military base, which is overrun with zombies in military gear, making them harder to take down.

Since zombies are piss easy to exploit, these situations are less likely to come up, hence why it devolves into "see person, shoot person".

I get you. Like the one army base in a post earlier. Only the roof had a door. Heard a guy calling me so I freaked out, ran to the roof....locked the only door and shot a few rounds to attract the zombies. Was 8 that I saw running to my location. They are somewhat a threat.
