yesternight i decided to log when my internet decide to dc after a few times a saw it was about 20 min but not an extact time so, i decide to log data usage and saw i dc after using 10mb of data and then i have to relog to play again,is there any fix so i dont get dc after 10mb of dc??? Why the hell would mtn put something like that in,just plain stupid i think. This started a few few weeks ago same for edge and hsdpa if anybody can help me i would love it :)

ok phoned mtn about 6 times still no luck and summitted a form ont he website.

Now i take it to the next level R100 for whoever fixes both my sims cards to work and dont dc after 10mb ,this is not a joke

problem fixed, look to me when you use to much data on a sim card they put ont his sort of block thing that dc you. So bought new sim then it works again

Experiencing the same problem: as soon as I hit 10MB, the connection seems to time out. Strange thing, though, is that I can still ping afterward - I just can't browse sites, download, or game.

The whole idea of switching SIMS whenever it does this it kinda naff, though - surely MTN could just get their **** together, instead of ****ing around all the time? Yeah, I'm pissed at them yet again! ;)

No its just because the network is completely F***! If you use the MDMA software you will notice the signal keeps fluctuating constantly! Sometimes its 1min , sometimes 5min , the signal strength constantly changes! Previous to all these recent network problems this would seldom occur, now its as if the hardware is problematic. I can't stream more than 5 megs from Youtube without the connection going dead. Major backhaul problems. If a new sim works great??? but what about the bundles on the previous sim???

This question doesn't mean anything. I'm just curious ;)

These downloads that dc'd after a set few MB's where they P2P downloads ?

No p2p works , it'll go , then stop for a while , then carry on again for another 5-10megs , then stop completely , then start again , periodically. So it often works better than browsing (Youtube streaming) which cuts out the connection dead. There is either a major power fault with the hardware and HSDPA is not functioning / or bandwidth problem.

i dont download p2p stuff ,only wow and updates sometime. I can still use the data bundles on the other sim card(just have to reconect every now and then, use when i go mine or something),from now on i just buy a new sim card every time when i load a bundle,so that i dont waste it on a sim card that is going to be limited. I had the 10mb problem on normal 3g and edge also so its not just hsdpa, its mtn trying to rip people off again.

It not only on normal surfing i was trying to send a friend a file over email . My uploading went to 6m got dc . The problem my file was 9mb and i had plenty of air time R150 . And after trying and trying /praying and whole of mbs wasted (my money ) . I gave up . i wish they refund you when (mtn ) disconnects you . I basicly wasted 100 rand for nothing .

Started happening again about 2 days ago - download, browse, game, do anything on the internet, hit 10MB-ish, and then the connection hangs... and hangs... and hangs... until I restart it! WTF MTN?! It was fine for ages, but here we go again...

Fsck, this may also be a cause of my tethering issues.
Can't browse, but still connected to MSN Messenger.

Ok, to put it bluntly, I'm now ****ing pissed off. The first time this started again, was about 200MB into my new 2GB data bundle, that I had loaded onto an existing SIM (once the old bundle was finished).

Not sure what else to do (cause we never seem to get any kind of response from MTN), I bought a new SIM, loaded another 2GB bundle, and hoped for the best. Lo and behold, 10MB into the bundle, and the connection started hanging. I call 173, eventually get through to a person, who then redirects me to some random department that is only open during office hours. Over 3GB of data I can't even use, and can't even get some sort of compensation for! It happened a while ago, but was fine for ages, so I imagine they rectified the problem. Well, it's back again, so please fix it PROPERLY this time?!

Well hooray for small miracles! Got through to another human (rather quickly this time!), who actually seemed rather helpful - seems there was something not set correctly on my SIM(s) - he fiddled around, and said I should wait about an hour before trying again.

1 hour and counting (not gonna hold my breath though)...

EDIT: My only question is this: how come it worked fine before, when I didn't even have this missing "setting"? The mind boggles...

We pay for the data we use so capping to 10 megs is not because of what the customer is doing but merely due to their major network issues!

I tried updating my NOD to the newest version (engine) this evening which is a 12meg update and it has cutoff twice at 9.99megs  -- and therefore doesn't update the anti-virus software. And that update goes through port 80

So, I get home tonight, hoping that this **** would finally have been sorted out. Get into a heroic group as tank (I play WoW btw), and then... hang... hang... hang... checked my usage, and yes, 10MB had been used.

I really hoped that AN ENTIRE DAY LATER this problem that was supposedly going to be rectified in an hour would have been a thing of the past, but NO - still ****ed. I contacted 173, only to be told that their system was offline (no surprises there, really). I really wish someone from MTN would look into this NOW...

This is going on for me more than a week now!

The same thing is happening to me -- glad in a way I'm not alone. I've been thinking about it, reading up, Googling etc, and pondering. You know, sitting here, looking out of my window at the trees blowing in the early afternoon breeze.

And I think I've worked out the problem.

MTN are a bunch of c***s.
