Hi

I just wanna ask all the clever guys out there something... Is there still people in south africa that is using dc++ and if so what hub cos I can't find a hub that actually has people on it. and If i use local people can get from and I can get from them. I don't mind even hosting the hub but what do I need to host the hub? if there is a working one where there is people already it would be better. I have an uncapped line so don't mind sharing.

ANyone please give me a decent hub in south africa it would be great

regards

Join your local WUG. Their DC++ and other PTP servers are always busy. Nice resource for open content and open source software.

You need about R45000 worth of server equipment, an access point of about R100 000 and a License to Host the Multiple Backbone servers running 24/7, which is about R300.

ok i'm just kidding hehe just google ptokaX or yoshi hub - that should get you started.

do you have a fixed IP ?

No fixed Ip. Do I need a fixed IP and whats the chances of someone actually coming onto my server?

and in connection with the WUG I need all there equipment and don't have that kind of money to lay out and they are not on the internet.

I need a dc++ server that already on the net

well if your IP is gonna keep changing how is everyone supposed to know where the Hub is ?

EDIT: I see dade answered that one, and has a solution.

ok is it easy to setup and how do I tell people that have dc++ about my hub?

start a site...change you signature...print flyers:D

Well, since I'm a varsity student, I take full advantage of our DC++ network :) Good times!

this would be perfect for adsl users - 30GB local isn't it?

ahhh. takes me back to my iburst days.

so you doing this to give back to the community?

yeah something like that..... get things up and running again. I am hoping to try and get it up in the next hour so can have it running for the weekend otherwise will only get it setup next week..... but then I need people to populate it to safe people

ok now I need assistance I am getting the following error code when trying to connect to the hub "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

Anybody have an idea why it is doing that?

If I go locally then it works properly with the ip 127.0.0.1. I would like to get this up with in the next 20 min so that it can populate hopefully this weekend,
