DCS World. A serious combat flight sim

Salute!

There are a couple of us that fly DCS A-10 around the patch and some guys on DCS World.
Most progressed from IL2 series as well as Falcon4, Lockon etc.

Not trying to recruit anyone to any squadron or anything, but if you want to find a few people to hook up with to fly, depending on the verison maybe pop over to evilsod flight sim thread.
Its a IL2 Cliffs of Dover section in the forum, but DCS discussed there as well.

I am flying Dcs A10 v1.1.1.1 at the moment till TARS comms system has been updated for DCS World versions.

Have DCSworld 1.2 for A10 installed but not setup.
Also have the DCS P51 sim.

I'm with him^ :p

Good to see some interest here on mybb!

I host a private TS server for our sorties and as Sneeky says, we use TARS. Problem with the private server is that the IP always changes so need to issue IP via skype/sms etc. Also busy with some fictional SAAF skins right now but they're very time consuming so I'll post when done.

Great stuff! Glad to see there are other people who are into this!

Kat, Sunday afternoon is fine by me :)

Sneeky, I got the A-10C and KA-50 modules. Focusing on the Hog at the moment since it is a little less daunting. Maybe next month I'll get the P51 as well since it looks like lots of fun!

Howzit Kaot

Best to stick with one till you get it sorted.
I haven't even touched the P51 yet lol.

On A10 we pretty much start missions with cold ramp start, firing up all the systems. Sometimes air start, but Flanders gets his knickers in a knot about shortcuts ;)

With Tars integration in Teamspeak you cant hear anyone unless you have your radios dialled in to the right frequencies. Kinda adds to the whole top gun **** haha.

Time is the single biggest limiting factor, but generally Sunday is good for me as well. the day of rest and hurling mavericks and jdams around.

Cool to see some other folks around as well.
Must definitely keep in touch here or at evilsod. There are enough of us around for joint multiple 2 or 3 ship missions on the Hog.
Will be great.

I must get this game when i have the $$$ again, use to played lockon, etc. Used to enjoy it, but latley bf3 takes up all my gaming time.:D

Yeah, I'm still learning the cold start procedure but it makes sense to know everything in an authentic sense. Had some malfunctions from combat damage and didn't always know how to get around it.

Will be great to get some tips from you guys on proper navigation techniques, and spotting bogeys without labels...

We're all pretty new to the A10, and are helping each other out on the fly so to speak :D

A typical mission we sometimes fly online is a multiplayer version of the instant action Russian lakes Spring mission, which is nice practice and good for some laughs, or something similar with an air refuel in it. Sheez thats white knuckle stuff with 3 jets wanting fuel and all 3 running on fumes :D

This is a good resource for the sim incase those interested have not come across it yet. Has documents, airfield info charts, tutorial vids, etc.

@ Sneeky and Flanders

How active are you guys in Falcon? Was thing of joining a VFW for BMS falcon, I'm loving that bird.

Never touched falcon, kat06sa. Learning A10 is like doing a flippin' degree as it is...never ends! :p

Ahh F4 :D
The benchmark study sim that sets the tone. Still looks super!
Just thinking my last instal was F4/Sp3/Freefalcon/Bms2, or something along those lines.
Got the original Micropose Falcon4 box and stuff somewhere in the garage

Another A10 goody, these 2 guys know their ****

Well, practicing a bit tonight. Landings need a lot of work, still around 50/50 whether my plane survives it hehe

One of the reasons i stopped playing flight games, was that when flying level @ fast speeds, the terrain does not seem to go past quickly. Maybe it is system related. One title i would like to see is Fighter Ops when it ever finally comes out.

I need to configure some modifier I can use for easier mouse look. Just gonna have some target practice without SAMs, they're way too much of a headache for me still.

Those videos were somewhat inspirational, just shows how far I still have to go!
