Whoop, TrackIR 5 just landed on my desk![]()
What time will you be available?
But, yeah! New toys and all
I'm seriously impressed, my payment only cleared to Landmark this morning. Then got an email to say they're checking stock availability. Don't know how they got it here this quick, I suspect magic :wtf:
oh, and btw watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy-RNLLP-Rs
Tasking targets to other SADL Aircraft
. In addition to receiving Target Assignments from JTACand other SADL-equipped aircraft, you can also assign targets to other SADL-equipped aircraft. Thisis done through a combination of using the SPI and active hooking. To create a Target Assignment:
Actively hook the SADL-equipped aircraft you wish to send the Target Assignment to andpress the SEND OSB. Upon doing so, the network identification (XX-XX) of the hookedaircraft appears below the SEND label.
Set the SPI to the location of the TAD symbol that you wish to assign as the target. You donot need to be broadcasting SPI to do this. This will set the target location and be visible
on the recipient aircraft‘s TAD.
With the recipient and target set, press the SEND OSB a second time to send the Target Assignment.
Hooking Datalink Symbols
^^ From the flight manual
.
OK, so I've downloaded and installed DCS World plus the Training videos, but I don't know where to go from here.
There aren't any manuals in my Doc folder and when I try launch the training mudules, DCS World crashes to desktop. I can launch Instant Action and fly around in circles, but don't have a clue how to target or anything else. Please help.
Remember trying that you and failing. All aircraft in the group must also not forget to set their flight and group ID to allow other aircraft to send via datalink.
How are you with refueling?
Refueling... lulz... still a long way to go. I reckon if I ACTUALLY START TRIMMING, I may have better luck
Tried loading a training mission for that, since Flanders usually located the Tanker. Problem was that I use the correct TACAN frequency, on A/A TR. Put the front navigation switch to TACAN. Then fly around following the needles which make me close some distance, then the needle just pops off into another direction. Anyway, not giving up hope hehe
Hehe, did you try looking up and making visual contact with the Tanker? I think what's happening is that you're looking down concentrating on the needle, meanwhile the tanker has shot right past you. Also, either in the top left or right of the CDI (where the needle thingy is) there is a distance scale. That should help you figure out how far you are from the tanker. I usually start looking from 3 or 4 miles out.
Here's a training mission I used to practice. You start out a few miles behind the tanker. The more you practice the easier it gets,

We flew a mission where the tanker came up on the scope but he had no distance info (first time I've seen this). The distance info was barred out. We were in fairly thick cloud at +- his alt (stated in briefing) and at first I thought he was probably just out of range but still close enough to see his directional info on the HSI. After a minute I could tell that he must be quite close since he was moving across us quite rapidly. I tracked him via HSI until by sheer chance I picked him up visual in a gap in the clouds off my 11 o'clock coming towards me - still no distance info with A-A TR mode selected. Anyway, once I had him it was fine. I refueled and stayed in formo with him and Kaot tracked me on the TAD from there until he had us visual.
True about practice making it easier. When I first started refueling prac it was insanely hard.
Looks like I'm improving on the attempted refueling, maybe I'll get it right sometime![]()
White knuckle sweaty task that is hehe
Configured my new instal yesterday so good to go again.
