DCS World. A serious combat flight sim

Will only be able to play a bit later tonight, maybe we can do some tests if i see u guys are still online.

Will do but a quick q - I'm not that familiar with the fast mission builder. Is there a way to say that I want a fast mission with JTAC in it from the FMB menu or would there normally just be a JTAC available?

JTAC is normally always included, and you can see if it is as its listed in the briefing.

JUst click create fast mission and and accept whatever it generates, to speed it up you can also opt to not select ramp start and rather start from runway with all systems up.

Vlerk, just did a quick test. Can confirm what you are saying - briefing stated 2 JTACS, one on 30 and one 31FM. Did runway start, checked FM and no JTAC option.

The only thing I didn't check was whether that changed as I approached IP or target. Will have to dig a little deeper later on.

Shot thanks

Nope it doesnt change when you get to the IP.

My limited understanding from what I have read, it seems as though the fast mission generator is making these missions with the JTAC already at end waypoint, or with no waypoint, so in effect the JTAC in the virtual world thinks the mission is complete.

The multiplayer fix for this is to go into mission 'editor' and correct it, but I don't think this can be done with missions generated from the fast mission generator wotchamacallit, unless you can save the generated mission and post edit it somehow.

Now the mission editor, the next can of worms hahaha.

You can save and edit. I've done it before. That's actually quite a simple fix if all there is to it is to edit a JTAC's waypoints. I guess that'll be a hotfix in the auto-updater soon enough.

Is anyone else having huge performance issue with the campaign? While playing missions all seems really smooth, but with campaigns the game becomes a slide show, especially while using the tgp.

Hoping to get a mission in tonight so I'll be on TS from about 7pm (Sun).

Cool, I'll join in. I might just need help with TARS/TS etc. Had problems the other night where no one could hear me, but I could hear everyone.

Another vid, tried to get more views going in this one.

Cat and mouse with a Sam9 Strela.
The cat got nipped, but the mouse got stomped eventually.

Nice, Vlerk!

Hey guys - a bit of frustration in getting up and running last night with a couple of issues here and there. We'll iron 'em out though. Part of the problem in that mission itself (for me at least) is the grid system they're using. I don't get it. They were calling 2-letter grid co-ords like Golf Hotel. Even if you look at the F-10 view in-game you'll see that the vast majority of grid co-ords follow Mike Mike (MM 123) so what they're basing their co-ords on there is beyond me. My hunch is they were simply using the broadest version of the UTM system but I haven't tested whether we could just enter KK for example into the CDU without any of the other regular 9 line information. Then, if it does work, does it center on Kilo Kilo or does it look at the uppoer left quadrant etc. etc. Need to test that.

Then this black buildings on the TGP thing...

This, I found out after the fact, is apparently caused by alt-tabbing. I had alt-tabbed early on before take off to try and see why Roosta was muted in TS. Makes sense though because we'd flown this mission before and I didn't have that problem then. So alt-tabbing's an all round no-no in 1.2.1. It made aquiring those rooftop manpads impossible.

One last shot of our tanker rendezvous before RTB. Midnite was desperately trying to be frugal with the Jet A1 since it was more than 140NM to base and he was idling on fumes. His fumes were on fumes. Alas, his refuel was not to be and myself and Crog had to wave bye bye as his systems shut down and he sunk into into the darkness below. :D

Midnite, set those curves! :p

Haven't flown in a while so it was fun being utterly confused for most of the mission. Router died so I couldn't finish. Will for so more action soon.

Flanders, I was completely confused. I think I was following the wrong convoy for over an hour, while in my mind, you lot were bombing 'invisible' targets. HAHA.

I also need to get bit more clued up about the MP part. In SP, you get designations by JTAC, but in MP, I was just not sure what to look for. At least we got TARS and comms sorted, though and I still had a blast, flying on Midnight's wing.

Perhaps next time, I'll be a bit more useful

Hehe, RoosTa, there are actually three convoys I believe but our priority one is to protect (Grappler 1-1) starting at "Alamo" and heading south. They're marked with a green 'x' even while on the move.

There are also so many enemy units down there that we'd be winchester long before Grappler makes it to safety if we simply go killing them all. Not the easiest mission by a long shot and although normally you would be dealing with JTAC, here it isn't the case. The system I eventually got in place was to track the convoy, set a markpoint on their position then scan ahead for enemy units in or near their potential path and then revert back to that markpoint and generally look south from there to re-aquire them.

I'm going to test whether I can add just the two letter prefix of a UTM position into the CDU. That will make things a lot simpler if it works and we'll essentially be able to give one another JTAC co-ords on new targets or the convoy position.

Nice to finally fly with you guys though. Look forward to the next one.

I was tracking a convoy marked with a green x that had 3 hummers and 2 URALs. They would occasionally stop to shoot at some soldiers or make a pit stop for some bread and milk. Looked like they were taking a joy ride ...

Anyways, I'd like to try that mission again sometime. At least next time I'll have an idea what to expect :)
