DDoS hacker arrested

South Korean police said on Friday they have arrested a hacker for staging cyberattacks similar to those that crippled domestic and US websites this week.

He's lucky...I remember reading about a not so lucky, top Russian hacker last year. He was basically forcing large corporations' to pay ransom, with threats of DDoS attacks.

Someone managed to track and trace him and he was executed in public by the hitmen...

He'll probably get a few months in low security prison and then a multi-million dollar contract to work for some Korean bank doing white hat stuff.

Idiot... He must have wanted to get busted? Ddos is for script kids... Come on, why would he hack from some thing that could be linked to him?

Hehe! That's why I mentioned GRC above. Some guy took offence at what he percieved was Steve mentioning "script kiddies".

The guy lauched a DDoS attack against GRC. Steve captured one of the bots, took it apart and used it to enter the botmaster's bot chatroom, where he recieved info from his army of bots and sent out new instructions to his bots.

The guy could not believe that Steve had entered his little hidden world.

The story is on the site somewhere. :)

I confess I'm a tad bewildered.... Some trouble has been taken over the years to have me believe that hackers are innocent of any wrongdoing and that it's in fact Crackers that are destructive.
Surely Choi qualifies as a Cracker in this instance?
What's with the mud-slinging at guiltless hackers? *chokes....

hacker or cracker the intent is the same

to enter (without permission) any PC (or network) not belonging to you.

Oops then I was misinformed. I rather tend to agree with you there Librarian and thanks for clearing it up.;)

A few years back I joined a whitehat "google hacker" forum and a "honeypot" group that studies the behaviour of hackers.

Do a "Google" on the term "google hacker"...You also break the law if you "hack" a site by using the gazillions of pages cached by google...

"they" change the term to suit them when they need it.

Hehe! That's why I mentioned GRC above. Some guy took offence at what he percieved was Graham mentioning "script kiddies".
