DDR3 1333 vs 1600

This isn't just interfering with Everest, but all apps report those speeds. The cool 'n quiet and EPU take it down to 800.something MHz in high performance mode on idle and the turbo mode offers from 1% clock increase upwards. Would be nice if it was 0% upwards then I could get it to standard speeds. Silly thing.

Will mess with it tonight, but not sure it will report set frequencies rather than actual frequencies.

Awesome seeing 4GHz. Can't get the 955BE past 3.8 without 1.5V or more core voltage, but that was me just playing around. Not overclocking this one for some time yet.

1.5V :eek: Running my i7 on 1.275V, could probably lower it to 1.2625V. :erm:
 
Yip. Mine is on stock 1.35V at present on stock speed. Goes to 3.6-3.7 on that voltage. It will run fine on lower as well. But that 1.5V seems to be what the 955BE needs at 3.9+ on air/water. Not too keen on having that voltage all the time. Just trying it last night showed some chunk of extra heat even on idle. :P

They can be undervolted quite nicely though. Probably the 45nm process needing it :)
 
Turns out those weird numbers are there for good. So what is it? The Intel reports the setting and the AMD reports the actual? I can understand variance in clock, or are the Intel clocks just dead on perfect?

I tried for a 3.9GHz again. :P Pukes after 2 seconds in prime95. I'm not trying for over 1.5V. Currently going to run stock 3.2GHz at 1.275V. I do believe they can go lower.

3.8GHz runs perfectly fine though.

I tried using the ACC stuff the other night and got some better luck at 3.9GHz, but only for a few more seconds. Perhaps I should give it a kick up to +12 and see what it is all about.

I don't think so, you'll notice my clock speed in Everest changed between screenshots (all within the margin of error with bus fluctuations) so I don't think it's static clock reporting.
 
Gotta admit, I'd love to have a i7 LGA1366 machine if I could afford it. Looks like a fantastic bit of kit. Next time maybe :D
