Not yet CT ...
Recently spent some time here. I like the area. I love old buildings and their history.

Good investment in property to be had here? However, prices seem even more exorbitant than elsewhere in CT.

Not too long ago if you walked around at night the chances of getting a shiv in your back were pretty good.
but it's ALWAYS been expensive (except for bokaap which adjoins )
Probably because being the unofficial Ghei area of town demand outstrips what jockeys there are.

It's an excellent area to invest in. There are very few places that would be a better investment

English, please? What is a shiv? :)

Do you think the particular area is going up or down in terms of safety and resale value? My husband seems to think the adjacent Bokaap is a very dangerous area at night.

Indeed, in the Bo-kaap you'd be lucky to just get shiv'ed, most bangers there are strapped with gats!

It would be a sad day when the cape gangster give up their uniquely awesome afrikaans slang and become Americanised

property anywhere in the CBD is good round about now, nothing special about de Waterkant specifically

Rather odd question. It has gone from one of the cheaper areas to one of the most expensive areas in the country.

As for Bo Kaap, why would you husband say that? There is no major crime that I'm aware of. I had a couple of friends who bought there. Never worried about crime. I am far more worried about crime in the Northern and Southern suburbs than I am about crime in Bo Kaap

You have to use Google Translate to find out what they are saying

crime in Bokaap is an issue and is increasing as the neighbourhood is torn apart by gentrification, but if you are buying for investment purposes then not much to worry about

:wtf:

English motherf*****, do you speak it?
:crylaugh:

shiv = shank = a stabbing implement of any kind, perhaps a knife or screwdriver or melted down toothbrush sharpened against the prison wall
bangers = gangsters
strapped = packing heat = carrying a gun
gats = guns, typically 9mm pistols

and though I was joking and purposely using the silly jargon, I wish I was joking about that element being in the Bo-kaap
