Dead HDD

Anyone know if the save games/profile can been salvaged from the HDD?

I got an error 68 this morning

Maybe try this first if you haven't done so already:

Switch off box, put in vertical position, place hand firmly on harddrive above the connector, push down firmly and switch on the box

Can you take the drive out of its enclosure? If so I'd let spinrite have a crack at it.

Thanks Bwana, I have removed the disk and put it in my SATA caddy but windows doesn't even see it

I have a feeling it's completely toast

Spinrite should be able to see it.

Are you on Live?

If so you can just recover directly off Live when you get a new one...

It should be covered under warranty still

Will I get my saved games back as well so I don't loose my progress? I was doing really well in PGR4.

No you won't get your saved games back.

Some games can read your achievements and 'guess' as to where you were... it depends on teh game and no I don't know about PGR4 before you ask

Bummer, so if Live doesn't know where I am but I can retrieve all my gamer points that means I can get double gamer points by simply redoing the games I've almost completed, or will it simply know that I've got 440 point in Colin McRae and not give me any more until I've reached that threshold?

My box was stolen in Jan and while it remembered my Rainbow 6 stage I had to redo all of Dead or Alive 4
