Today I noticed about 3-4 dead pixels on my LCD and it's quite annoying now that I know they are there.

So I was wondering can I exchange my LCD for a new one? I bought it at PC International in Randburg and it's still under warranty.

How new is it? Chances are they will try to fix it first and if all else fails, they should replace it with a new/ similar model.

Thats NOT the kinda S**T i wanna hear! I just bought one on Thursday!!! ;) (and from Pc International to boot!)

A friend of mine has had his for over a year and no issues yet...

5 dead pixels and you can change for a new one, that's how the warranty states.
Mine also from PC International, no dead pixels at all.

Strange, the 2232gw has a great reputation when it comes to not getting dead pixels.

This might sound very strange.....

Switch the monitor off. Unplug it totally. Pick it up, and SHAKE it.

Yes. I'm serious.

Some lcds actually get fixed like this. (I tried on a friends and it worked.)

PCInt won't replace though, a colleague had an lcd problem like yours and they said that they couldn't swop. It's a "manufacture anomily"....

They say "s**t happens"...

PCInt doesn't really understand the word warranty....

I'm gonna try that shake thing :p

Its like 1/2 a , thats how many pixels ...
s*i*t PC Int won't swap it you say?

Froot its about 6 months old..

But i think i can live with it for now ...

I have the 932GW and my cousin has the 2232GW, still no problems at all. Think you just the unlucky one?

I shook mine and i accidentally dropped it, now I have more dead pixels!

Shake & break!

nah i was just kidding.
even if it did work, i wouldn't be able to shake a 42" around now would I? that would be begging for trouble!

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it or if you realise (I'm sure some do), there's a big difference between a stuck pixel and a dead one.

Dead pixels will never be revived, by any means at all, I'm certain. They are destroyed/broken that's why they are called dead. AFAIK they would appear to be turned off, no colour produced by them.

Stuck pixels will appear as a static colour that doesn't change much. I guess it is possible for pixels to be stuck "turned off" though, which would make them hard to discern from dead ones?

Apparently the shaking of the screen/massaging of the affected area/flashing colour things, serve to help spread the liquid into pixels that had not gotten proper coverage yet, thereby fixing them.

But with dead ones a small component is actually broken, so these procedures will have no effect.
