Deadline for 10-digit dialling looms

Telkom was saying on an advert that you now have to dial the full 10 digits even for local calls.. this is the best part "so we can make more numbers available for all South Africans"

Arent their subscibers like seriously going down fast

Why are they really doing it anyway? I mean do they actually need the extra capacity?

No the reason is because of Neotel and their numbers apparently. You need to dial the full code to interconnect, similar to the ways the cellphones work in that you have to dial the full operator code (082, 083, etc).
