Dealing with "Resolved Issues" From Telkom

Hello there Mybb,

I am currently at wit's end. Three times now I have logged to Telkom an issue with Intermittent connectivity issues, Three times I have been told a technician will be dispatched to resolve the issue.. and you guessed it: Three times I received an SMS stating that the fault has been resolved (where I almost immediately reopen it). It all started around the end of last month. I started getting intermittent service from the boys, where my line would drop at completely random times. It would be off for around 2 minutes and come up again - where it would drop again after 3 minutes - 40 minutes.

The call center always seems to be busy (and keeps me on-line for more than a hour before I get to an operator). Do any of you here on this forum have advice of what I should do? I have to note that I have tried 2 different routers (1 being brand new still). This was a issue in the far past (back to May 2014) but it hasn't occurred until the 29th of January again after being resolved.

What should I do? Clearly yelling at hellkom is less productive than yelling at a brick wall...

Seems like your a victim of the new software which has been implemented.

You need to request the port which your line connects to, Your line needs to be transferred to a new port.

Should sort out the issues.

Will that software also close noise faults on a POTS line?

I always tell folks to report their POTS line faulty and not report a DSL fault.

I've seen it on quite a few lines in the past month or so - 90% of the time, the port swap sorts the issue.

ASSIA changes the modulation which generally makes the line unstable and causes it to drop intermittently.

Sounds worth a try. What should I tell the chaps at the call center?

Thank you. I am still phoning tomorrow to find out what's for what. I mean, I am not paying them monopoly money, I pay real money for real service.

This just reminded me to look up a fault which I helped a friend of mine log a few days ago. Also for slow sync speed and intermittent connectivity. Looks like they closed the fault without actually doing anything.

Been having that issue many times lately.
I reported a faulty landline rather than the DSL connection being down(both were down) and the job has been closed twice now without anyone having been on site or anything having been fixed.

All telkom departments are currently under severe pressure, Some techs have been closing faults without actually doing anything.

The reason being is due to a new system coming into the scene which is also causing issues on dsl lines.

Once the new system has been tweaked everything will be back to normal.
