All too often, something I've downloaded for later viewing is later expired by them far too early, sometimes it's months before.

Maybe it's an error being fixed, but not nearly good enough an excuse MC, and you owe lots to all those who wasted their bandwidth.

Anyone Exploda-downloading should be aware that s/w (software) updates can / do sometimes erase downloads.

The fix seems to be immediate watching the first few seconds of the actual content thereby marking it as something you're already busy with.

I have one (Explora 2) in immaculate condition but the HDD needs replacing. Do I just chuck it?

Not at all. The first 2 models are the best, get them to change the HDD. They can usually even transfer content for you if not too damaged, but only at main branches.

Our issues are mostly s/w related.

I'm toying with replacing the HDD with the one from my newer Explora (3). I liked having the channel number visible on the face.

@Geoff.D may know better, but last I knew these more modern decoders can't just swap HDD's, must be done by them.
Would certainly need a format either way, and some models may be incompatible with newer HDD's.

Currently using DSTV Now through Google Chrome on Windows 11 Enterprise, as I have given my eMatic AGT419 Android box to my brother - so he can watch DSTV Now via it - firing up his dinosaur Celeron laptop to watch programming through Google Chrome there was too frustrating a task - as it frequently stalled / bombed out on him. Now he is a happy puppy at last! I will get another eMatic AGT419 to replace it when funds are available.

I have noticed now that whenever I access DSTV Now through Google Chrome, no matter what channel I select - this message immediately pops up:



But, if I click on 'Try Again' - it then loads the channel normally & plays the programming I have selected.

Yet another 'Glitch in the DSTV Now Matrix' to contend with...

Software update, Explora model 1 - got L150/2 this morning, UI is now on "Afrobeat".

One improvement seen was the download waiting for the preferred maintenance reboot time again.

Just been looking at the new now.dstv.com setup for the first time. Surprisingly well put together, but still a few issues as is normal with this lot..

On the Access package they haven't included 2 of the channels, fortunately minor ones.

First load with a direct link gives all DStv channels, and then anything goes wrong so needs initial refreshing.

My Movies Plus option isn't available there, but I did see elsewhere that it's still under development as an option for online-only subscribers so probably linked to that factor.

No sign of the moved online Box Office, attempts get to a blank page at best. Did manage to find my way to one movie from another link, but no further.
(EDIT: Found it, Box Office was/now is alphabetical in the Movies section.)

BTW, I mentioned 432 NHK World before, a news / doccie channel from Japan not on our satellites. Well, this service does have it

The DSTV Facebook support team never fails to deliver on their total misunderstanding of the service DSTV offers. Today I reported EPG problems with The Block Australia (wrong episode numbers Fri, Mon & Tue so series recording is failing) and pointed out that the same errors appear on the website TV Guide. The response I get is to send them my signal strengths.....

Hi this is not a fault as such but an irritating feature when watching catch-up each time you pause there is a advert on the screen I sometimes pause to read something in the credits or text on the screen then the advert comes up and blocks the screen we are paying for the dstv service why are adverts needed in this place.

I also find those adverts very irritating but - just in case you don't know - you can press the BACK button while the advert is displayed to return to the paused screen if there is something you want to see or read.

DStv Rewards program.......

A few too-personal questions, then you're in, right? Nope.

1. They don't tell you you need the DStv App to claim the rewards, else you need to go to their service centre... hahaha, yeah I'm driving there for this BS, sure!

2. They tell you you can install the app on a PC. BS!

Since the latest DSTV Now app "update" a streaming program still freeze, as if buffering, but would then continue 10-15 seconds later, except, the audio stream will be the time lapse behind the video stream.

I can confirm that. I used a few times and the reset were done fast and efficient every time.

Does anyone get freezing when watching from the buffer (on OTA watching, paused live TV then resumed). We have had above average power outages in the area for the past 1.5 years, I think the HDD is dying unless its not just us having the issue.

On rare occasions, when everything gets sticky due to their authentication messing around. Not normally. Explora 1.
