How do you rate the DStv service *technically* ?

Anyone wanting old James Bond movies again, they seem to be slowly playing them out on 107 MM3.

Starts New Year's Day with an ancient version of Casino Royale (there's 3 versions).
 
Anyone having the issue whereby some channels (not all), particularly channel 203 in my experience, is stuttering while watching? Changed the LMB and the issue persists. I noticed it can be intermittent. Some days fine but most days its TERRIBLE.

The LNB's skew angle may need fine adjustment (vertical / horizontal alignment) , especially if normal rain is making it worse. Check cables as well. If unsure what needs doing consult a professional, and I can't help more.

Thanks, a professional tried helping and replaced the LMB. He reckons I need a new dish.
 
There is rust on the surface (dome) of the dish. Should I check elsewhere for rust maybe?
No, just replace it. That's enough to (likely) cause the problem. Best to replace the wall bracket as well, which would normally be done anyway.

DSTV NOW stops streaming after roughly an hour
Hi All...
I am not sure how or who to contact about the very poor quality of the DSTV Now website that keeps dropping streaming after an hour, it just goes to a full black screen, then "we have a problem" when you refresh, before I start watching, I clear the cache, yet this keeps occurring, there are a lots of complaints on dstv care twitter, but no one at DSTV seems to care, or understand the issue, or worse the frustration expressed by clients having to keep refreshing and refreshing every few minutes, I can understand an automatic lock out at say 6 hours of streaming, this is way not acceptable...

No official help on offer here, just keep trying to reach them through their various channels.

A major older-decoder programmes guide failure took them weeks to attend to, looks like they decided the whole service was entitled to a festive season break :mad::mad:o_O So maybe they're waking up now........
 
So I have a 2A decoder as my secondary ... seems to had a bit of a jolt over the festive season. All recordings were scrambled, and now it keeps rebooting randomly. Already reset and reformat, but I guess it is toast (hardware issue)

Yeah for 3 yrs.. No app for mac os x or win10/11, using a 1918 website that has more holes than a sieve... DSTV is not serious about anything...
 
My biggest concern is the Explora flagships.
Software does seem more stable these days (@Geoff.D , @krugie ?) but there remains at least a "carelessness" with lower priority issues that are still important.. :rolleyes:

Here's this month's stinker;
Years ago there was a push on their forum to fix a fault with recurring Manual Recordings - after New Year's Eve those r-MRs would fail to continue to cyclically list themselves and later execute. A few years later they did work on it, and it seemed to be sorted out.

This New Year's I happened to have four r-MRs and three of them failed! :mad:

Further - their setup carcasses were still present (invisibly these days :rolleyes:) as my replacement setups wanted confirmation to overwrite them.

Lastly - those overwrite warnings included a mention of some "locked instances", which could only have been referring to older successful recordings in my Playlist - what has that got to do with MC?? And why are they potentially messing with the stability of those older recordings as well?! :mad:
 
Maybe their 'high-tech' software programming computer needs an upgrade...

It has been known for years by some in the related industry that there's an affirmative action factor behind these issues, and they're STILL dragging their feet.

Recent massive increases by them of attention to local content screams that we're now witnessing a nose-dive.

You can try a factory default reset - sorted out my dad's Explora 1. I'm not sure what the front panel key sequence is for the 2A though - maybe someone on here might know.
 
I am confused as to why there is no app, but the suppport on twitter keeps talking about uninstall apps.. When 90% of users stream on a website??

There are MANY people that stream via the DSTV Now app on their phone and tablets and TV Boxes. But the support line of defense is always to uninstall or clear cache or restart phone or log out and back in etc etc... none of which ever has any impact. The problem is always their app or website or something wrong on your account on their side!
