How do you rate the DStv service *technically* ?

Hi Guys,

Hope somebody can assist.
We've had the Explora 3a connected to a 2nd TV using a modulator worked fine.
Decoder packed up replaced with Explora 3b, using the same modulator setup we get sound but no picture.
I've attached a pic of the modulator used.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have checked, even tried another set of rca cables.
The setup worked fine on our model 6s and Explora 3a.
Just doing this on the new Explora 3b. Thinking about returning the decoder and getting another 3a before they're all sold out.
 
Last night's attempt to watch Chicago PD on MNET City (Ch.117 - 20h00 to 22h00) with DSTVNow on my tablet started out well - for the 1st 45 minutes it was OK - then about 5 minutes before the end of the first episode, the dreaded PER1 error message made its unwelcome appearance - this cycle of the PER1 error message re-appearing every 4 minutes or so continued through into the second episode, for about 20 minutes - and then it was back to normal for the last 30 minutes or so....
 
So there's something strange that happens sometimes. I'm on Premium but sometimes a whole bunch of new channels show up that don't belong on my Explora. They're maybe channels from other countries or from special bouquets or something.

Thing is whenever I land on one of those channels I can't see anything, but it freezes my Explora for a minute or so then it crashes and reboots. Last night is got so bad and it crashed and rebooted non stop. Eventually got an opportunity to completely reset and reformat my Explora to factory settings. Seems to have solved the issue for now.

Anyone else have the issue of lots of new unviewable channels showing up and screwing up their decoders? On mine it happens at least a few times a year but last night was the worst.

Completely normal MC messing around. They have no choice sometimes to open access to all channels on the satellite. That way no one is adversely affected while they stuff around. What you should do is NOT try and tune to those channels. Just wait it out. And resetting to factory defaults is just punishing yourself.

Forgot to say I don't actually tune to those channels. Just using the arrow button on the remote to scroll through all channels without actually changing the channel I'm on causes the thing to freeze and reboot when it reaches those channel numbers. Hope that makes sense

Ja it does. It annoys us all. The problem is MC are also use opportunities like this to do what we called hidden sw updates!
None of this is a fault with your decoder. It is all about MCs satisfying MCs own internal desires with no respect for their clients.
 
You are more than welcome to post any unrevealing details. :) After yesterday I can confirm that I have most definitely not seen series 11 with the characters wearing COVID masks for most of the episode... haha. I can't say I enjoyed the episode much - it felt almost like a COVID documentary - but maybe that was just a once off thing. I am hoping it will be more back to normal from episode 2.
E2 of S11 is part of what we saw in E11 on DStv, so we've now concluded we somehow missed E1.

This false "re-premiering" is not so strange given what they're doing with The Blacklist S7 on ch. 115 - still busy showing both the start and end of that season on the same channel in different time slots.
And similar was going on with Billions, which was somewhat corrected after it was reported to them, but they're now claiming starts yet again in 10 days time...

This may be the most bizarre behaviour we've seen yet.
 
Last 2 days of older (better) online guide messed up yet again... seriously doubting any value in these "reports", maybe still worth something for the few of us sharing though.

Did you have reboots today?

One of the things that could have caused mine on two decoders is a new channel launch underway (nothing interesting, some sort of showcase of Kenyan, Tanzanian & Ugandan movies...) :-/

No reboots since I had to completely reset and format my decoder. Haven't yet scrolled through channel numbers again

I am sick and tired of MC support telling me to log out and in again.

It seems specific to Android TV, I tried on my Skyworth TV and a Xaomi TV Stick and both have same problem.

Am I the only person with this problem?

Mine working fine. I know they changed how the sub menus work. Try selecting series on the catch up tab. It should then give you the options: series, movies, kids and sport.

Nope, no sub menu at all, only TV Shows. no movies, no sport.
The headings are: TV Shows, All, All, Newest

Strange, I use the DSTV app on Chromecast with Google TV, which is also Android TV and see the same as you described, but if I select TV shows it opens a sub menu and lists the other. Used it just last night. Maybe an error on older Android TV

The problem is not finding a movie, you can use the search function and find the movie, but you cannot browse through movies like you can on a browser. So you need to know what you want to watch and then use the clumsy keyboard to type the title.

Aah ok,with you now ... but hasn't it been like that since "forever" ? ... I've only ever used the search to find things for catch-up ... it's just easier for me especially when I know exactly what I want to watch and then i add it to the "My list" :unsure:

If you watch on a browser or on IOS then you can see Movies, Sport and TV Shows.
