What is the latest sw dl for the Explora 1 that refuses to complete and just causes a loss of all sound on all channels?

Does anyone know what the latest sw level is supposed to be on the Explora 1?
Still sitting on L150/2 distributed from mid September, and normally get all updates early.

Are you maybe trying a manual update? If nothing new on the stack it will still look like it's doing something.

No the stupid thing is doing its own thing ---- which then fails, and the outcome is no sound.

If you check on the settings screens it says there is a sw update available.

On;y solution is as usual a hard power down reboot.

And I just got a message - "an error occurred during the software download, the decoder will now reboot" - it was time for my planned maintenance reboot but that hadn't started yet and there hadn't been any other notification... so yep, looks like the next wave of MC BS has hit...:mad::popcorn:

Edit: Reboot was normal, sound seems fine (my Audio Output is set to Fixed).

Now got an on-screen update notification and choice options - first time I've ever seen this.
Allowed it to try, did nothing...

Tried a manual dl, no good either. I guess we're stuck with this for a few days / weeks so will keep resetting my maintenance to try avoid this. I'm sure 3 or 4 days without it is fine.

Mine is also on L150 with a message under Settings that an update is available. Also chose to download it and got the same message that an error occurred during the download - it is now re-booting again.

I have escalated the issue and they have just advised that the problem has been isolated and should be resolved within the next hour.

Great, thanks. Hoping it's a passive adjustment, doing my first morning recording in ages and it's a good movie :-/

Seems like there are numerous issues with NatGeo (Ch.181) on DSTVNow - The program title STILL displays as 'UNKNOWN', the subtitles are on CONSTANTLY, and the vertical scroll bar is still visible on the right of the screen when Chrome is maximised...

Another issue recently - program titles were showing the previous program's title, I think on at least 2 channels but don't recall which. Halfway to a fix maybe?

And note that 181 NatGeo themselves have been putting on non-removable subtitles for the last few months, we saw it on their latest Aircrash Investigation season on satellite. St00pid thing was that they were English and the program was... English. And they're large, nearly drove us mad. Some sort of woke handicap move I'm sure, a real effort with choice would've actually been a good thing.

Movie finished, tried a reboot. Update choice made seems to affect the next chosen reboot, so expect one more failure message but then it doesn't ask about it again so hopefully done. Info Central screen still suggests it's available though.

@Geoff.D & @krugie
Curiosity got me - it is real and is working now. Now on L152, UI on "Batuque".

Batuque? Is that a version of batty or bat shyte? Hopefully not

My upgrade is now complete.
L 152/2
DL date: 16/11/2021
DL Time: 15:46:16
DL duration 920? -- a Euphamism for 2 Hours?
No EPG Info, and we are running out of time before the wife starts throwing things at the decoder.

I'm seeing a few bugs fixed, mostly Showmax related so maybe was just a bad start... UI seems faster again too.

And it's ages since my model 1 failed to record so maybe old bugs are finally getting sorted?

But until the ability to choose to search beyond the chosen package is returned, and recurring MR's are at least listed again, I will continue to call it the Exploda - when obviously needed user functionality is canned for inflated business needs it is just that.

I decided last week to switched off the 3A to minimise the damage caused by load shedding.

The HDD of the 2A twice got corrupted. Most likely because some of my recording overlapped with the start of a scheduled load shedding slot. I don’t think the HDD like to be interrupted while recording.
I noticed on Sunday when we returned home that sometime during load shedding the software updated on the 2A. The 3A remained off during the time we were not home Nice timing M C. New software version L98

Powered up the 3A this morning and after the reboot screen all went blank with a no Signal message on the TV. After the third reboot a message appeared that the good news is that there is a new software version that will be downloaded and installed first before we can continue.

New Software version L57

What I have learned now is that as soon as there is a new wave of load shedding and the schedules become available to cross check for any scheduled recording over lapping with the load shedding schedules and move them to safe time slot or delete it completely. That will reduce the possibility of complete HDD failure and replacement of the decoder.

Excellent advice, although as we know background recording of other content is continuous your precaution can only help. Probably a good idea to power down PC computers as well.

So far so good, the wife only threw one pot at the decoder because it messed up the recording of her first soapie just after 16:00.

The persistent fault is still with the program markers on the status bar. It stays out of synch by 1- 20 minutes.

The EPG issues go all the way back to the deployment of the original DSTV PVR that had independent dual-channel record & playback capabilities - I was one of their 'trial software' guinea-pigs for the PVR.

I had constant fights with MonoChoice support staff on their forum about the continual EPG problems occurring on a regular & daily basis, finally culminating in a meeting I had with their then CEO, Nolo Letele, & Aletta Alberts, their recently deceased head of programming - they actually paid for a return plane ticket from DBN to JHB for me to attend the high-level board-room meeting there. ;)

Needless to say, nothing improved, I eventually got banned from their forum for 'complaining too much' - and here we are - 15 years or so later - with no discernible improvement with these EPG issues & glitches as yet... :whistling:

You weren't alone, later quite a few were suspended / restricted / banned ;- )
Some of us survived it though.

We never met as I was a fieldtrialist before the SD PVR when they didn't have the private forum, and then joined the public one. But there are a few here from your forum period.
