Really though, these long interruptions are becoming more and more frequent across SA, I'd love to know WTF is going on.

Morning Gentlemen
I was also without power during said time period. I gave City Power a good and solid piece of my mind last night. That was at 6PM when I finally got through on 011-375-5555 they didn't answer their phones all day yesterday so I held on, yesterday afternoon late, for 34 minutes on speakerphone until some lady answered and she was rather helpful. I assume the annoying ringing phone got to them and some supervisor stepped in.
The problem? Feeder lines to Peter Road and Christiaan De Wet substations was apparently again stuffed. They didn't fix it properly on Saturday night and the conductors apparently burnt off so bad they had to restore it in sections. WTH????? I drove around yesterday late but I didn't see any fallen conductors so I presume they meant that vrot underground cable that runs across Christiaan De Wet there near Clearwater Mall, all the way through to Ruimsig. That cable has caused a lot of trouble for us, almost all our outages are due to that and it all began when Christiaan d. Wet substation blew up last year.
How in dear incarnation do we have problems like these? Oh I know, thanks to AA/BEE and reverse racism!
What type of jenny? If it is diesel and is quiet (I live in a complex) then we can talk... Of course I will supply my own AMF panel and do my own install.

R6500 will buy you a 6.5kVA petrol open type, noise is around 74db @ 7m, really it is not noisy by any means.
If you are looking specifically for a diesel silent type, we have 5kVA ultra silent type units available in the reagion of R10k.

R6500 will buy you a 6.5kVA petrol open type, noise is around 74db @ 7m, really it is not noisy by any means.

On the petrol you are looking at around 2.3L/h, the diesel in the region of 1.7L/h.

Correct. Might be a tad higher up here due to altitude, but these small units are quite cheap to run.

Comparatively, A 600kVA Cummins consumes around 130L/hR30/hour is "cheap"?
hehe - but yeah, not consuming much in the way of fuel.

Dude, that's pretty much what they got from me on the phone last night and I so hope they recorded the call like they claim they do. I was seriously pissed last night... my food in the freezer had begun to thaw... nice puddle of water in the kitchen. And I had a kuk cold bath last night

The Mimmos at Rock Cottage had a queue, and everyone in the queue was swearing and "F-eskom this" and "F-eskom that" and we had a waiting period of 40 mins for pizza, they were so overloaded. This pushed some people over the edge too... They began to drink in the parking lot. Some fought with each other, but generally you could see a lovely bunch of angry South Africans like you've never seen before.

Yip, the ANC voters were not present, they don't care about these kinds of things it doesn't seem to faze them. They just think it's a big fat joke when their counterparts get angry about things like this.
