Dear Forum Members

I am constantly being questioned and called when I offer or give the advise when asked the questions. Now I am sick and tired of it and am no longer interested in who wants to quote sections of the Tax Act.

Its not us thats harrassing you!

this is not funny you guys. let me tell you what happened to me and it's not with gadgets like ouija boards and crystal balls, i don't believe in that stuff.

in october 2008 i took a small job with this tax consultancy. i was replacing another woman who was going on retirement. this other woman who also worked there worked in SARS with me many years ago and has been with this little tax consultant business for years. so after about a week or so of me getting into things, these 2 start telling me about "henry". they called this "entity" henry. i go ya ya i believe you. now i do believe there is something out there but i don't take it too seriously.

so all the equipment in the business is brand spanking new.

colleague and myself are sitting there one afternoon yakking away when the phone starts ringing, it's an inside call. there is only her and myself there. the call has come through on her phone. she looks at me and says she's not answering it, she is clearly scared. so i start laughing hysterically and tell her to answer. the phone does not stop. so she eventually answers and screams out "henry that's not funny". i ask her what happened, she says it was like an echoy wind on the phone.

few days later i'm standing at her table and talking again when we hear from upstairs a clear distinct noise of a typewriter going. we looked at each other with wide eyes. it started and stopped five times. we heard this typewriter going a few times and there was no typewriter upstairs. we went and looked. we even tried to open and close the door to test if it wasn't the sound of the door but it wasn't the same noise.

this thing would play with the alarm system buttons, again newly placed equipment.

we would hear the sound of the utensils in the kitchen at times we would joke and tell it to make us coffee while it was about it.

it phoned me on my phone as well. if i didn't answer and my colleague answered it would phone back till i answered.

it phoned me on my cellphone. it turned the radio volume button on and off. turned the air con on and off.

one day i went to pick up my kid from school at 2, as i drove out the driveway i heard the sound of my boot clattering. i know i hadn't opened my boot. when i dropped my child off at home i got out the car and closed it shut and went back to work. at 3 i went to pick up my other child, as god is my witness, my car boot was clattering again. it was opened again.

it would give the clients missed calls on their cell phones from the switch board. it would give my friends missed calls from my cell phone. i had one of my own clients phone me and before i could get to my cell phone, it was a matter of maybe 2 rings when the phone went off and i noticed it said missed call, so i phoned this guy back. he said to me what kind of voice message do you have on your phone? i asked him what it was he told me it sounded like a child telling him "my mother can't talk to you right now" and it started laughing. i had the normal voice message on my phone when you initially get the phone. i never changed it.

i got a "please call me" from my one child to go fetch her from school. i couldn't get hold of her. every time i tried to phone on my cell i got this message come up on my screen "you have the wrong number". my child's number is programmed in my phone.

there are a few other things that happened but just to mention a few that happened while i was there. at times i would scream when things happened. like the chair being thrown across the floor. it was scary stuff.

Its that <censored> Henry!

considering some of the dodgy advice you gave this is good news. I dont doubt you meant well, but your condescending and aggresive attitude when addressing issues clearly above your pay grade was getting tiring.

Two that I can recall

1) earning any income from rentals means you have to be registered as a provisional tax payer: Act clearly states that is is only true if the taxable income is more than a certain amount.

2)Income earned from letting to family is not taxable - just laughable

I think you'll find that when it comes to the courts who are the ultimate arbiters(and not SARS) the Act carries more weight than you lend it.

it's actually people like you that have made me decide enough is enough. i have given advise from being an actual assessor and auditor at SARS and how things work and you and the likes want to argue.
cheers have a nice life.

yes python it's that blerry henry. damn was i ever so glad i left when i did. it was scary stuff i tell you. :D

Always a pity to lose a source of knowledge but you know what is best for your well-being.

:)

On, btw Celine, SARS did not allow that plastic surgery after I submitted the supporting documents. Fair enough, but I still want the official SARS policy wrt plastic surgery because I think it is still a debatable topic and there is no black on white clear cut policy that I can find.

Penis enlargement is not tax deductable???

now where is that guy that called me out with some names such as aggressive or something or the other.

stefan yeah i told you it wouldn't be allowed in this case but rather in a case of reconstructive surgery as in like someone who suffered a loss of a breast due to cancer or something. i'm not sure if anyone has tried to debate this with anybody at SARS, but you have to see it from SARS' point, if your medical aid isn't going to pay for it then why should you be allowed to claim for it against your income tax. oh well there's a lot of things that's not fair hey. sorry you couldn't get the deduction but if it was your wife who had them done................:D i say no more lol.

Stefan - there will be a plethora of psychologists willing to testify on your behalf in court if you wish to make a medical claim for elective plastic surgery, I'm sure. No longer will the basis be physiologically medicinal, but mentally medicinal. You'd have had to have seen the psychologist before the surgery though. In which case, paying the tax becomes the cheaper option. However elective plastic surgery can, I'm sure, be deemed as medicinal...
