Dear Mweb and Openweb

I'll wait for Telkom.... no matter how much the other ISPs have, until recently, still been unable to improve on my use of Telkom's Do and AllAccess packages! They throw in the "free" local that no one else can match.

Well that is useless when you're talking about uncapped, but I know what you mean, they might use their position to undercut Mweb. I don't think they can really go much lower than MWeb at the moment though, accounts over +-6GB for 384/15Gb for 4mb hardly make sense anymore.

The other benefit is the bundled call minutes and free after hours calls. As someone who is away from home a lot, this really helps my family to stay in touch with me!

That isn't related to ADSL, you can get the same Closer package without ADSL rental.

Yes, most of them will be exactly the same.

You'll have to browse and compare their T&C's with each other and choose then.

But I strongly suggest you wait - as next week AfriHost will release their offerings, and there's also another surprise coming.

Hang on there ;)

And how do you know this? How long must I wait for? Tuesday?

um, so you gonna use that free local after you run out of uncapped? :erm:

Good luck with that! :D

Obviously it would make no difference but the point is that in all this time on the capped front I have still held onto my Telkom account while using other ISPs to "top up" as they have not been able to match what I get from Telkom. Point being, and let me spell it out this time, that Telkom still seems to offer the best packaged deals when push comes to shove. I will wait until Telkom makes their offering and I will be more than happy if it is then shown that I am wrong and I can get a better (all inclusive) package elsewhere.

I look at my total telecomms cost...

Not sure why that changes anything. Actually my point was that it's no reason to stay with Telkom for your ADSL account.. you will have the same total cost (and service) minus whatever you save by moving to another ISP? You just move from Closer 5 to Closer 3 (4mb) and then you can get your line rental somewhere else if that works out better. For example Vox are only selling their uncapped accounts bundled with the line rental and that's the cheapest there is atm.

I'm with Laurie, Matthew and company on this one.... I'd rather keep my account with an ISP that can guarantee me a sustainable future. I also prefer a single account with a single service provider. Until such time as LLU kicks in, why must I pay a 3rd party for my line rental?

Does Openweb still have those "Sign on the dotted line with your blood and sell your soul to the devil" T&Cs?

I agree except that Telkom wouldn't really be my first choice as an ISP. Having a home line from Telkom that we want to keep means that I'll always have a separate Telkom bill, and Closer is part of that. Maybe once we have another real landline operator or LLU I can move away completely.

there so many great new uncapped products coming in the next few months , its hard which to stay with , one is shaped others are unshaped ...
but happy its going this route , about time lol , i would wait for a while and then decide
