Dear Telkom Mobile

Just ask for a replacement unit. Your router probably took a walk.

what router was it
It's a B593

They called me last Friday to tell me that I can go pick up the router at Clearwater Mall, but that it wasn't fixed (again they said they sent me an SMS - I think they are sending g it to the wrong number because I haven't received a single sms from them).

Anyway, this is when I got pissed and I asked her why it is not fixed. Answer - because apparently I don't want to pay another R600 over and above their R180 handling charge I had to pay (apparently this brand new router I sent to them on the day I got it is out of warranty). I told her that I knew nothing of this extra money I had to pay and she said she would go investigate....more than a week later - nothing.

So in short - micro singer stuck in full size SIM slot
I'm told repairs would take 4 weeks
3.5 months later I'm still waiting and I. Total I need to pay about R800 to get it removed - can just as well go buy another router at this rate.

Telkom Mobile's repair process is shockingly bad. If I can get them to actually FIX the ****ing thing I will go and pay the extortion money when I have it back in my hands. I have no trust in them at this stage.

I dunno what to do next - send this complaint along with names to their head quarters? Is there no ombudsmen I can get involved or am I basically screwed?

You accidently put a micro SIM in?

I did that with my 7" tablet when I first got it, was a REAL pain to get out (something like 2 hours of effort), turns out it took full SIMs lol.

If it really is the cause, then yes, It wouldn't fall under a warrantee repair I think.

Yeah, because of the silly TM SIM cards that has the micro inside the full sized one. We tried for a bit but couldn't get it out.

I realize it is my fault, what I don't get is why it is not fixed after so long. Like I said, I'll pay - if they tell me. First I heard of it was when she called and said "you refused to pay".

Lol I did the same with my router.. Brand new out of the box there was no mention that it takes the standard sim card.. lesson learnt. Managed to take the card out after stressing;sweating for several hours. Use a pin to get the mobile out.

In other news have had my router over 18 months so far no hiccups whatsoever with it.

Hmmm, I guess since the SIM swap has been done I can just as well try and remove it myself even if it means destroying the SIM in the process.

/flame suit

Warranty isn't doing you any favours at the current moment though..
Meh, I'll probably open it if i end up fixing it myself. If it should break I would be so gatvol of it and the Telkom Repairs department that I'd throw it away.

I'll ask them tomorrow if the router is still at Clearwater and go fetch it. Just write these four months off and forget about it. (The other option being sending the mail to the higher ups as MickeyD suggested but I'm not in the mood for Telkom drama anymore).

OK - so as mentioned I was phoned Friday the 8th telling me I can go pick up my unfixed router at the shop.

Because nothing has been till now, almost two weeks later, I message the rep to confirm that the router is at the shop. Yesterday he tells me that it is and apologies for the inconvenience. Fair enough, after all it takes a whole organization to do cock this up. They also phone me asking me if I have picked it up yet and I tell them "No, I'll do so tomorrow morning". That is today.

So guess how "surprised" I am when the Telkom dude in the shop gives me a bewildered look when he has to tell me that the router is not there.

So to sum up: 4 months of patience, paying money, more patience and giving up - and Telkom goes and loses my router. The post office is more efficient than you guys at this stage.

I think it is only fair that they deliver that router directly to me instead of wasting more of my time and money. I should probably insist that they pay back the handling fee because they aren't handling anything at the moment
