Yesterday I officially died and went to heaven. Got a Barista Coffee brewer. Oh man this is so good...

That smell alone is enough to kill a charging Rhino at 200M.

Factory settings is damn decent. Every time you walk past it now you want to press that button! I had to set the grinding to 5 and switch to double wall filter.

Well done @Magnum - enjoy your brews.

I shall not be jealous. I will just be happy for you :p

Time for another cup of Joe, me thinks. Unfortunately, this minion will have to settle for a Nescafe Classic :(

Instant coffe is nice but you get like a fixed flavor. Scoped the local shops and found at least 20 completely different ones already. Also how you brew the coffee change the taste completely.

And then some of your instant coffee suppliers mix the ground coffee with wood and dirt to increase the nett output per batch. Here I'm grinding them myself. I know what goes in.

And those bloody sachet of 10 per box has something in that leave you extremely thirsty, Hoping that you make more and buy more of their product. BLEH!

I hate marketing guys.

I have a cheap ass breville venizia, got it for R800, (think they go for R3500) , nothing fancy like yours, (R8000?) and the coffee I make is better than any of the coffee shops in town. In fact I am going to give a new coffee shop some training this week. I see myself as a noob, but compared to what they serve, much much better.

Now that you have the tools. Learn to use it. Make sure texture is perfect. Temperature is perfect. Not too hot, or you lose the sweetness. Get rid of sugar. A cup of coffee that needs sugar, is cup not worthy of drinking. If you can't pick up the cup and sip right aways. Throw it down the drain. Lol! Enjoy!

How long has yours been working for? How did you get it for so cheap? Would you say the R3500 full price is worth it?

I have had the machine probably now for 6 months and it is probably 3-4 years old. Bought it from a friend who moved. When I got it, it didn't work but I just opened it up, disconnected all the pipes, cleaned them (one was blocked with calcium/limescale buildup), and put it back together again. Replaced the gasket (R50 from @home) where the portafilter goes in. And its working perfectly.

Although I am very surprised and impressed with the machine, personally I would not buy Breville. But at R800 I couldn't resist. For R3500 I would look at a good second hand one. Check maybe on gumtree or facebook market etc. and you might find a deal. I won't pay R3500 for that one, Maybe R1500-R2000 news. Look for a special?. If you want to get Breville, rather pay a bit more and get the bigger ones with the grinder built in.

Check this post from Snyper he got a good deal. https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/thr...presso-cappuccino.977569/page-4#post-22800978

Just an example, typing 'espresso machine' in Facebook Marketplace I find this one:
