Hi all

This is a bit of an old-school question.

My wife is a music teacher, and some of her training material is in mp3 format.

She is looking to get a decent standalone mp3 player that can show track info, has an OSD and can work through folders, ie Gr 1, Gr 2 etc. and can be connected to a BT speaker.

A media server in whatever shape is overkill.

There is probably no recognized brands that sells these anymore, but does anyone have any suggestions or can help out some 50+ers?

Why won't a phone/laptop work?

School buys the device, stays locked in safe at school. There are some other teachers that is also going to use it, so they might buy 3 or four.

a laptop would work out very expensive - a cheapish tablet with a Jackpin output might be a better idea - the jackpin is for ensuring you can connect it to speakers ...... if you cant find one with a jackpin connector then get bluetooth speakers for it - a phone would also work but the smallish screen would be a disadvantage

She has a BT speaker, so tablet does not need a jack

IMHO this simplifies it - the tablet will have a larger screen so you can also display music sheets etc or lyrics sheets and they would be more easily visible than on a phone or a small mp3 device ..... it doesnt need to be a top of the range R30k+ priced tablet - this is a fairly simple task so you don't need to reinvent the wheel and a cheap tablet will do and its easily replaceable if it breaks given that its a cheapish unit ..... only thing you cant account for its theft but if the school pays for it then i'm certain they should insure it
