So im helping a friend get a new car, but theres nothing nice under 300k:eek:
Hes about 35 and wants a little SUV or decent hatch or sedan.

Q5 - 400k
Roc - 350k
X1 - 350k
125 - 350k

etc etc.
Did I miss any? apart from the obvious Korean crap.

Maybe read some of the test on the new Korean Crap before you dismiss them. Both the i35 and the new Sportage are really awesome cars.

Yip, seems the new Sportage is at the top of the list at the moment.
There has to be something else out there...

I even recommended the Prius lol :p

I'd get a new Sportage - just because it looks awesome. Don't know much about KIA though. . .

If you want premium cars you need to earn the $ to back it.

Nothing wrong with new Korean cars like the Sportage & ix35, rated extremely high & exceptional value for money.

I agree with Auto Mundial, the Korean car makers Hyundai & Kia will probably be the biggest in the world in 10 years time. And Kia's styling of some their new vehicles is really good but a Hyundai for that price

No thanks. German all the way.

The "Korean crap" beats the pants off pretty much anything else in its price range below R300k....

But spending R300k on a new car is absolutely madness in this day and age if you ask me.. you can pick up so many decent vehicles for alot less than that that are "pre-owned"

+1. I would love to own a brand new car, but I don't know if I could bring myself to buy new, when you get so much more with late model pre-owned.

Focus ST - R300k. Friend of mine says if you go there and ask for a discount, good chance they'll give you one :p

What about a polo gti? Faster than all of those cars listed...

The ix35. looks awesome though i'm yet to drive one.You can get a fairly good pre-owned for less than that amount as well.

ix35 or Sportage - Korean quality is tops at the moment and these cars really are beautiful. Else the X1 if it really must be German.

No VAGs though.
